Luxe Paradise Residence 79 Nguyen Du Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Luxe Paradise Residence? The name makes it sound like some flashy resort, but honestly, it’s way more sophisticated than that. Walking up to 79 Nguyen Du, you’re right in the heart of Hai Ba Trung district – and I mean properly local, not tourist-trap central. The street itself has this great mix of coffee shops where actual Hanoians grab their morning ca phe sua da and little family-run pho joints that don’t even have English menus.

The hotel itself feels like someone took a really nice apartment building and decided to do hospitality right. Check-in was refreshingly quick – none of that drawn-out welcome ceremony some places insist on – and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood when I asked about getting to the Old Quarter without dealing with the crazy weekend traffic. My room had this clean, minimalist thing going on, sort of Japanese-influenced but warmer, if that makes sense. The bed was properly firm (thank god, because some places here think tourists want to sleep on clouds), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually has decent water pressure. Small thing, but you appreciate it after a long day walking around the city.

What I really loved was how quiet it gets at night – Nguyen Du isn’t one of those streets where motorbikes are revving until 2 AM, but you’re still only a ten-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake when you want the action. The breakfast setup is nothing fancy, just solid Vietnamese and continental options, but they make a mean banh mi if you ask nicely, and the coffee is actually local stuff, not some international chain nonsense. I spent most mornings on their little terrace area just watching the neighborhood wake up – street vendors setting up, office workers on their scooters, old guys playing xiangqi in the park across the way. There’s something about being in a real neighborhood instead of a hotel district that makes you feel like you’re actually visiting Vietnam, not just passing through it. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Hanoi, but everything works like it should, the location is genuinely useful, and honestly, the price point feels fair for what you get. Perfect if you want to stay somewhere that feels like Hanoi instead of Generic Southeast Asian City.

What could be improved: Er was geen balkon, en op de omschrijving van Booking.com was die er wel. Personeel aan de balie was ongeïnteresseerd. Het was niet heel erg schoon in de badkamer

Good spot just outside french quarter if you need an apartment

What could be improved: Aircon temperature for the two rooms was linked, make sure you like it the same temperature as your travel companions

    Nothing

What could be improved: This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, the security guard was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He didn’t even say hi or introduce himself. Instead, the first thing he did was ask for payment in an abrupt and disrespectful way.

Later, he demanded to check our passports and insisted on seeing the stamps. I explained that passports are no longer stamped, but he rudely argued with me instead of listening. He even ordered me to leave the apartment to open the door for him to check something and demanded that I take a photo of the door pin. His tone was commanding and completely inappropriate.

On top of all this, the hotel itself was in terrible condition. The facilities were broken, dirty, and poorly maintained. It felt like they didn’t care about providing a comfortable experience for guests.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff’s behavior and the poor condition of the property made this stay a complete disaster. Avoid this place at all costs.

Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Rooms were large and comfortable and included cooking facilities. It's a little further out from the Old Quarter, though walking distance to the Hanoi Station which is handy
