Monaco building 901 Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Monaco building 901” on my booking confirmation, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sounds more like an apartment complex than a hotel, and tucked away in ngõ 20 off Hồ Tùng Mậu street, it’s definitely not your typical tourist trap location. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place special.
The building sits in Cau Giay district, which honestly feels like the real Hanoi – you’re surrounded by local coffee shops where they’ll look at you funny if you ask for oat milk, and there’s this amazing bún chả place literally two blocks down that I stumbled onto my second day. The area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM (which I actually loved after dealing with Old Quarter noise), but during the day you’ve got this nice buzz of office workers and university students since there are several tech companies nearby. Getting around is surprisingly easy too – there’s a bus stop right at the corner of Hồ Tùng Mậu that connects to the city center, and Grab drivers actually know where this street is, unlike some of the more tucked-away places I’ve stayed.
The hotel itself feels more like a boutique property than your standard 4-star chain. Check-in was refreshingly smooth – no endless forms or upselling, just friendly staff who seemed genuinely happy to help. My room on the 7th floor had this unexpected view of a small park I didn’t even know existed, and mornings were surprisingly peaceful considering we’re still in the middle of a busy city. The AC actually works (not always a given in Vietnam), and I mean really works – I had to turn it down the first night. What really impressed me was the attention to small details: proper blackout curtains, enough outlets near the bed, and a shower with actual water pressure. The Wi-Fi held up perfectly for video calls, which saved my life during a work emergency.
The breakfast situation is pretty solid too, though don’t expect a massive international buffet. They do a nice mix of Vietnamese dishes and some Western options, and the phở they serve is honestly better than what you’ll find at most tourist restaurants. I ended up chatting with other guests most mornings – there’s this communal table setup that somehow doesn’t feel forced or awkward. One thing to note: the elevator can be a bit slow during peak hours, but the stairs are clean and well-lit if you’re in a rush.
For the price point, especially considering that 8.8 rating isn’t just inflated reviews, this place delivers exactly what you want from a Hanoi stay. You’re getting a genuinely comfortable base in a neighborhood that feels authentic without being inconvenient. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s the kind of place where you actually sleep well and wake up excited to explore the city rather than dreading another day of travel fatigue.

Reviews of Monaco building 901
Päivi from Finland – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Mimo deklaracji wyposażenia lodówka w pokoju nie działała. Phạm from Vietnam – 26 September 2023 (8/10)
