MoonLight Tay Ho Overview
So I stumbled onto MoonLight Tay Ho during one of those frantic Hanoi accommodation searches, and honestly? Best accidental find in ages. The place sits right on Phố Yên Hoa, which – if you know Tay Ho at all – puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to West Lake to catch those ridiculously pretty sunsets, but far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually think straight.
The building itself has this sort of understated elegance thing going on. I mean, it’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in Hanoi, but there’s something really thoughtful about how they’ve done the interiors. The lobby has this warm lighting that actually makes you look good in photos (trust me, I tested this extensively), and the staff seem to genuinely know their stuff about the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the Old Quarter without dealing with the weekend traffic nightmare, the front desk guy gave me this whole route through the back streets that saved me probably 20 minutes each way. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t Google, you know?
What really got me though was how quiet it stays at night. Tay Ho can get pretty lively – especially on weekends when the expat crowd hits the lakeside bars – but somehow this place manages to buffer all that noise. I’m usually a light sleeper, and I was genuinely surprised how well I slept here. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in feeling without being shabby, if that makes sense. Good water pressure in the showers too, which… look, after a few days of exploring Hanoi’s summer heat, that matters more than you’d think. The AC actually works properly without sounding like a helicopter landing on your roof, which puts it ahead of probably half the hotels I’ve stayed at in Southeast Asia.
Location-wise, you’re maybe a 10-minute walk to some of the better coffee spots in Tay Ho (there’s this little place down toward Quang Khanh that does incredible egg coffee), and if you’re into the whole West Lake jogging scene, you can be at the water in about five minutes. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s one of those places that just works without any drama. Nothing’s revolutionary, but everything’s done right, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually enjoy a trip instead of dealing with hotel problems.

Clean, in the quite area beside the lake. You may need 30min to reach the old town on foot, but this was ok for us. As stated, this is an apartement building, so you don’t have a brakfast. But you do have a Circle K store very near. And a Sen Cafe for a morning coffe or tea that I highly recomend for their ambient and quality. Just ask a hotel for a backdoor exit to reach them within a few minutes.
What could be improved: We had a short stay of two nights occuping two appartements (4+2), one room didn’t have a window, but it was not an issue for us.Tokunbo from United Kingdom – 18 March 2025 (9/10)
The room had a steam and sauna stand alone bath 🛁 extremely spacious. Very comfortable and clean, staff were very attentive and helpful
What could be improved: Maybe having cooking facilities added to the room . But to be honest it didn’t detract from how fabulous the room wasSiddesh from India – 16 March 2025 (9/10)

Really enjoyed our stay at Moonlight, great location as it’s nice and quiet but not a far walk from bars and restaurants. Very clean and had everything you need.
Vu from Finland – 5 March 2025 (9/10)
Good location and helpful staff.
Room was spacious and clean and fully furnished.Keith1643 from Australia – 4 March 2025 (9/10)
Very clean, comfortable and quiet rooms in an area that is much more tranquil than the Old Quarter. If you want to go to the Old Quarter or Hoàn Kiem lake, you'll need to use Grab. Having a washing machine in the room was also very convenient. Staff here are helpful but seem to maintain a healthy distance and respect your privacy, which I prefer and appreciated.

The staff were helpful and very friendly. Good location. It was quiet.
What could be improved: The apartment was quite a bit smaller than we had imagined it would be.Nikodem from Poland – 25 February 2025 (9/10)
Excellent service with great communication skills, they provided everything we have asked for. About the rooms also perfectly clean and very cosy, all the facilities like washing machine, cloth dryer, hair dryer, wi-fi, A/C, iron is inside and ready for the use for guests. Very close to the city centre and all the landmarks as well as old quarter, 3 min by walking there is circle k that is open 24/7 and on the opposite side there is a street with a lot of local food and small shops. We also asked for leaving our luggage for few days because we were travelling to Sa Pa and there was no problem at all! 10/10
