When I first walked up to the building on Nguyễn Quyền street, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. But here’s the thing about this neighborhood in Hai Bà Trưng district – it’s got this authentic Hanoi vibe that you just don’t get in the touristy Old Quarter areas. You’re literally a stone’s throw from some incredible local phở joints that most visitors never find, and the morning sounds of motorbikes and street vendors actually become pretty charming after the first night.

The hotel itself surprised me – I mean, four stars in Vietnam can be hit or miss, but they’ve really put effort into the details here. The lobby has this clean, modern feel without being sterile, and the staff actually remembers your name after the first day (which, you know what, makes a huge difference when you’re trying to navigate a new city). My room was on the third floor, and while the elevator’s a bit slow – typical for buildings in this part of Hanoi – the space itself was thoughtfully designed. Good water pressure in the shower, which honestly is half the battle in Southeast Asia, and the air conditioning actually works well enough that you can sleep comfortably even during those sticky summer months. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, though it did get a bit spotty during evening hours when everyone’s streaming.

What really won me over was the location’s practicality – you’re close enough to walk to Hoàn Kiếm Lake in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant hustle of backpackers and tour groups. There’s a fantastic bánh mì stall literally around the corner that locals line up at every morning around 7 AM, and the neighborhood has this lived-in feeling where you can actually see how Hanoians go about their daily lives. The 7.5 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it’s really solid value for what you’re paying. The cleaning staff does a thorough job, though they come pretty early (around 8 AM if you leave your door sign out), and the front desk helped me book a reliable taxi to the airport without any of the usual runaround. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you want to experience Hanoi beyond the tourist trail but still have a comfortable, clean place to come back to at the end of long days exploring the city.
