You know what caught me off guard about OH Trendy homes Trang Tien? Walking up to this place on one of Hanoi’s most famous streets, I was expecting another generic boutique hotel trying too hard to be hip. But honestly, they’ve actually nailed that sweet spot between trendy and livable – which is harder than it sounds when you’re literally on the street that connects Hoan Kiem Lake to the Opera House.

The location is sort of ridiculous in the best way possible. I mean, you’re right there on Tràng Tiền, which means you can stumble out for coffee at any of the local spots (there’s this tiny place two doors down that serves cà phê sữa đá that’ll ruin you for anywhere else), and the night market on weekends is basically your front yard. The rooms themselves feel more like someone’s cool apartment than a hotel room – they’ve got this industrial-chic thing going with exposed brick and modern fixtures, but it doesn’t feel sterile. Actually stayed there during Tet season once, and while the street gets pretty lively with all the celebrations, the windows do a decent job keeping the noise manageable. Well, mostly manageable – you’re in the heart of the Old Quarter, so if you need complete silence, maybe look elsewhere.

What really sold me on this place was the staff’s approach to hospitality. They’re not doing that overly formal hotel thing, but they genuinely know their neighborhood. The guy at the front desk (I think his name was Duc?) gave me directions to this incredible bún chả place tucked away in an alley I never would’ve found on my own. Check-in was smooth – they actually let me drop my bags early and grab a shower before my room was ready, which saved my life after that overnight train from Sapa. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you might end up chatting with other travelers, but it’s not forced or hostel-y. Parking is tricky (it’s Hanoi, what do you expect?), but they’ve got arrangements with a nearby spot if you’re brave enough to drive in this city. The 8.4 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the Metropole, but for what it is, they’re doing everything well. If you want to be in the thick of things but still have a proper retreat at the end of the day, this is your spot.

  It was situated in a posh area of Hanoi…
  
  What could be improved: I had booked 2 nights, luckily for me I had to go there and pay a deposit to secure the room! Once there, I noticed with horror that what I had before my eyes had nothing to do with the photos!
  On booking they talked about a 1 bedroom apartment, what I saw was half a studio!
  the area was fantastic, but number 20, the studio, was down a very narrow alley that was falling into disrepair!
  the stairs, the hallway, the front door were in urgent need of renovation! there was a horrible smell everywhere! the room was smelly, the balcony was just a narrow space overlooking the courtyard!
  I only stayed there one night! It was the most terrible night of my life! the noise, the smells, a place to avoid!
  I did not hide my horror, which they tried to assuage with a gift! When she brought it to me, she said in return: I had to put a 10 on Booking, I replied: No way, she can keep her gift!

  Exactly like the picture. Close to so many stores and walking distance to the lake. Comfortable bed too!

  Perfect location, nice place and very responsive host. We had issues with the drain when we arrived but the owner showed up right away to fix it. We slept really well, sheets were clean, fast wifi, and also there’s a good bar right in the 4th floor.
