Oriental Suites Hotel & Spa Overview
You know what struck me first about Oriental Suites? It’s tucked right into the heart of Hang Dao street – and I mean right in the thick of things. This isn’t one of those hotels where you need to explain to taxi drivers where you’re going. Everyone knows Hang Dao, especially if you’re planning to hit up the weekend night market or grab some proper pho at dawn (there’s this tiny place about two blocks down that opens at 5 AM, locals lined up outside). The building itself has this interesting mix going on – modern lobby with marble floors, but you can still hear the street vendors calling out their prices if you’re on the lower floors. Honestly, I kind of loved that authenticity, though light sleepers might want to pack earplugs or request a higher floor.
The spa part isn’t just marketing fluff, which surprised me. I mean, plenty of places slap “spa” on their name and give you a massage chair in the corner, but they’ve actually got proper treatment rooms downstairs. The Vietnamese coffee scrub treatment is sort of touristy but actually pretty great after you’ve been walking around Hoan Kiem Lake all afternoon. Speaking of which – you’re literally a three-minute walk from the lake, and maybe five minutes from the Temple of Literature if you cut through the side streets. The front desk staff genuinely knows the area too, not just the obvious tourist spots. When I asked about finding decent bánh mì that wasn’t overpriced for foreigners, the evening manager gave me specific directions to this alley vendor who apparently makes the best grilled pork version in the district.
What really won me over was the attention to small stuff that matters when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms have proper blackout curtains (crucial when street lights are bright and you’re jet-lagged), decent water pressure in the showers, and – this might sound silly – but the air conditioning actually works quietly. You’d be amazed how many places have AC units that sound like helicopters landing. The breakfast spread is pretty solid too, though it skews more international than local – if you want traditional Vietnamese breakfast, you’re better off heading to the street stalls anyway. The 8.2 rating feels about right, honestly. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but everything works well, the location can’t be beat if you want to be in Old Quarter, and the staff actually seems to care about whether you’re having a good time. Plus, check-in was smooth even when I showed up at some ungodly hour after a delayed flight – sometimes it’s the simple things that matter most when you’re traveling.

Reviews of Oriental Suites Hotel & Spa
Deb from Australia – 14 May 2025 (8/10)
The location was very good, close to the lake and within the Old Quarter.
The staff were very nice.
What could be improved: Our first room was a bit dark and seemed small, it had no external window. However, on ou4 return we were upgraded to a room with a small balcony- much nicer.Victoria from United States – 25 April 2025 (8/10)

Tilak from United Arab Emirates – 21 September 2023 (9/10)
It is located right in the center of Old Town, near the lake. All the tourists attractions are within walking distance and there are plenty of restaurants, cafe, money exchange nearby. If you are into shopping there are plenty of shops in same street and within walking distance. This hotel has a lift so don’t stress walking through the stairs. There is a spa at the top floor which offers amazing service (recommended). Room was spacious and comfortable with almost all the amenities available, bathroom was equipped with a good shower with all sanitary kits.
I booked for just one night and ended up staying for my entire stay at Hanoi for 4 nights.
Pro Tip: If you happen to visit during weekend, the street in front of the hotel turns into the Night Market where you get a great deals for quality products.
What could be improved: WiFi connectivity requires improvement as it gets disconnected sometimes automatically.K from Singapore – 26 August 2023 (9/10)
Location
What could be improved: Forgot to booked a room with window, no windowAnnecy from Canada – 10 August 2023 (8/10)
Room was clean and large. Hotel was located in central Old Quarter on a street that closes for the weekend night market. Friendly staff who helped us make a same-day dinner reservation. They do laundry by the kilo which was very helpful.
What could be improved: Pay attention during booking because apparently I had booked a room without windows but was upgraded to a room with a balcony at check-in. Would not recommend the spa as we could feel the masseuse’s nails during the massage – there are better ones in the area.Mandy from Australia – 18 June 2023 (9/10)
staff were amazing. so friendly and helpful. great location. although right in the heart of the city, it offers quiet and peaceful rooms and a great breakfast.
