The location is absolutely killer if you want to experience Old Quarter life without the tourist circus. Vọng Đức is this quiet side street that runs parallel to all the madness, so you’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and the weekend night market, but you can actually sleep at night. I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional motorbike (it’s Hanoi, after all), but nothing like the symphony of honking you get on the main drags. The building itself has this sort of narrow, vertical thing going on that’s so typical of the quarter – you know, squeezed between other structures like books on a shelf. But step inside and it opens up in ways you don’t expect.

What really sold me was the attention to detail that felt genuinely thoughtful rather than hotel-chain sterile. The two-bedroom setup actually works – I’ve been in places where they just throw a curtain across a room and call it a second bedroom, but this has proper separation. The palm motif they’ve got going isn’t overdone either; it’s more like subtle nods here and there rather than some tropical explosion. The comfort part? Well, the beds are legitimately good (firm but not concrete-hard), and they’ve got this great little kitchenette that’s actually useful if you want to grab ingredients from Dong Xuan Market and cook something up. The air conditioning works properly too, which honestly can be hit or miss in older Old Quarter buildings.

Here’s what I really appreciated – the whole place feels like someone who actually lives in Hanoi designed it for people who want to live in Hanoi, not just pass through. There’s a decent workspace if you need to get some stuff done, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and the shower has proper water pressure. Small things, but they add up. The staff knew the neighborhood inside and out too – gave me directions to this incredible bun cha place on Hang Manh that I never would have found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, no weird deposit drama or confusing key situations.

I’d say the 8 rating is pretty spot-on. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it nails everything it promises to do. If you’re the type who wants to duck into quiet side streets to escape the Old Quarter intensity but still be in the thick of things, this works perfectly. Just don’t expect a lobby scene or room service – this is more like borrowing a really well-appointed local friend’s apartment for a few days.

  The instruction for key collecting is very helpful from the host.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom and the main room are separated by the hallway. That means you need to lock the door and go through the public area (although it's very short). But, for me, it's not privacy enough, especially bathroom.
  Moreover, the water pressure is extremely low in the bathroom.

  Our stay was really comfortable. The rooms were clean. All facilities were available in the room. The host was really good. The location is in old quarters so places were at a distance of 10 to 15 mins by Cab.
