You know what surprised me most about Panda Hotel? It’s tucked away in this tiny alley off Phố Vọng – and I mean really tucked away, like you’ll walk past the entrance twice before you spot the sign. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. The whole Hai Ba Trung district has this authentic Hanoi vibe that tourists usually miss, and this place sits right in the middle of it all.

I’ll be straight with you – when I first saw that 9.3 rating, I was skeptical. Those numbers can be inflated, right? But after staying there, I actually get it. The staff genuinely remembers your name after day one, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re jet-lagged and trying to figure out where to grab decent pho at 6 AM. Speaking of which, there’s this incredible little street food spot literally around the corner that the front desk guy told me about – the kind of place you’d never find in a guidebook. The hotel itself feels more like a boutique property than your typical 4-star setup. The rooms aren’t massive (this is Hanoi, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed with these nice touches like proper reading lights and outlets where you actually need them.

What really won me over was how quiet it stays despite being in the city center. The alley location means you’re not dealing with the constant motorbike symphony that echoes through the main streets, but you’re still a 10-minute walk from Vincom Bà Triệu if you need to hit a proper shopping center or grab international food. The neighborhood itself is fascinating – it’s where actual Hanoians live and work, not just the tourist bubble around Hoan Kiem Lake. I spent hours just wandering the narrow streets, watching kids play soccer between parked scooters and old men gathering for their afternoon card games. The hotel staff clearly knows this area inside and out too – they’ll point you toward the best bánh mì lady (she sets up her cart on the corner every morning around 7) or help you navigate the local bus system if you’re feeling adventurous. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend calling ahead if you’re arriving after 10 PM since the entrance can be tricky to spot in the dark. One small thing – the elevator is tiny, so if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, just mentally prepare for that. But honestly, these little quirks just add to the authentic Hanoi experience. This isn’t a sterile international chain hotel, and that’s exactly why it works.

  The bed was slightly softer than the Vietnamese standard! The price was also very fair.

  I was pleasantly surprised at how great this place is. The room was very cozy and comfortable, super clean, one of the best we had in Vietnam! No smell of any dampness in the room, small balcony, super soft sheets and towels, a couple different sets of lights in the room and quiet at night, in a nice local little alley, so you kind of get an idea of what it's like to live as a local in a quiet street in Hanoi, which was so cool. Even though the bathroom is shared, it's very clean and has a modern, comfortable system. Self-service laundry on the top floor, detergent provided. The host was very nice and helpful, he did his absolute best to make our stay as comfortable as he could.
  This place didn't have a lot of reviews at the time of our stay and it's always a risk to stay at newly built places but after our stay, I can say I would recommend this place to anyone. Good luck to the host and hopefully we will be back!

  Honestly a great stay in Hanoi! It’s outside the main tourist centre, but just 15 mins by Grab bike and in a lovely quiet side street. A great place to witness Hanoi going by, and the room itself was comfortable and everything was in order. Would stay again!
