Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down that narrow alley off Hàng Vôi street – you know how it is with Hanoi’s tucked-away places, sometimes you strike gold, sometimes you don’t. But Paradise Grand Hotel actually surprised me in the best way possible. The entrance is easy to miss if you’re not paying attention (it’s basically wedged between local shops), but once you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone really cares about this place. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling that’s somehow both elegant and welcoming – not that sterile hotel vibe you get sometimes.

What really sold me on this spot is how perfectly positioned it is for actually experiencing Hanoi rather than just visiting it. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoàn Kiếm Lake, which means early morning tai chi sessions if that’s your thing, and you can grab those incredible bánh mì from the vendor on Lý Thái Tổ before most tourists even wake up. The Old Quarter’s maze of streets starts right at your doorstep, but here’s the thing – you’re just far enough into that little alley that you escape most of the motorbike chaos and street noise that can drive you crazy elsewhere in the district. I mean, you’ll still hear the city (this is Hanoi, after all), but it’s more like a gentle hum than the full symphony of horns you get on the main drags.

The rooms themselves feel genuinely comfortable rather than just Instagram-ready, if you know what I mean. Good water pressure in the shower – and trust me, that matters after a day of walking around in Hanoi’s humidity. The air conditioning actually works properly, which isn’t always a given in this price range. What I really appreciated were the little touches that show they understand travelers: proper outlets for charging your devices, blackout curtains that actually block light, and honestly, just enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The staff has this knack for being helpful without being hovering, and several of them gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on – not touristy places, but spots where locals actually eat. There’s something to be said for a hotel with a 9.7 rating that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to impress you. It just works, you know? For the location alone – being able to walk to Ngọc Sơn Temple, the weekend night market, and still retreat to a quiet corner when you need it – this place makes a lot of sense if you want to actually feel like you’re staying in Hanoi rather than just passing through it.

  The breakfast was amazing my favourites were the croissants, bacon, watermelon, cereal, orange juice and they ask you what type of eggs you would like. The staff are so friendly. I was travelling to Laos on my day of check out and they offered me a late check out which is incredible.
