Peridot Gallery Classic Hotel Overview
You know how some hotels just get it right from the moment you walk in? That’s exactly what happened when I first stepped into the Peridot Gallery Classic Hotel on Bat Su Street. I mean, the name pretty much tells you what you’re getting – it actually feels like staying inside an art gallery, but one where you can put your feet up and order room service. The lobby has this sophisticated yet welcoming vibe, with carefully curated artwork that changes seasonally (I noticed different pieces when I returned six months later).
What really sold me on this place, honestly, is how perfectly positioned it is in the Old Quarter without being right in the chaos of the main tourist drag. Bat Su is one of those streets that locals actually use – you’ll see people heading to work in the morning, kids walking to school, the occasional motorbike loaded with fresh flowers heading to the market. It’s just two blocks from Hoan Kiem Lake, which means you can easily walk there for that early morning tai chi scene (trust me, it’s worth setting an alarm for), but you’re far enough away that you won’t hear the evening crowds when you’re trying to sleep. The Dong Xuan Market is practically around the corner too, which is perfect if you want to dive into the real Hanoi market experience without the Hang Ma Street tourist prices.
The rooms themselves are thoughtfully designed – and I don’t mean that in a generic hotel brochure way. There’s actually space to unpack your suitcase completely, the air conditioning works without sounding like a jet engine, and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept in a hammock. The bathrooms are modern with excellent water pressure (something you definitely can’t take for granted in the Old Quarter), and there’s this nice touch where they provide local coffee beans alongside the usual international instant stuff. What impressed me most was the attention to sound – the windows actually keep out the street noise, which is no small feat considering you’re in the heart of Hanoi. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, with staff who seem genuinely interested in helping you make the most of your stay rather than just processing you through the system.
The 9.5 rating honestly makes sense when you experience the whole package. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything works exactly as it should, the location gives you authentic Hanoi life just outside your door, and the staff strikes that perfect balance between being helpful and giving you space. I’ve stayed here during both the cooler months and the humid summer season – it holds up well either way, though like anywhere in Hanoi, you’ll appreciate that reliable AC during July and August.

Reviews of Peridot Gallery Classic Hotel

This was our second stay after a two day cruise on Halong Bay. The hotel staff were very accommodating and held most of our luggage while we went on the cruise. This time we had a room with balcony on the 10th floor but it wasn’t as spacious as the one on the third floor, however, there was far less street noise so that was the trade off. Also this bathroom was much more compact but with a roomy walk in shower whereas the previous room had a shower over the bath which I didn’t prefer. The meals and breakfasts are outstanding with such a large array of food to suit all types of travellers and the latte coffees were amazing!
What could be improved: The jacuzzi pool is heated and there is virtually no shade on the terrace. We encountered temps exceeding 40degrees so a pool with a cooler temp would have been much more refreshing.Sophie from France – 5 June 2025 (10/10)

A wonderful boutique hotel. We booked a room with window and balcony. The bed was sooo comfortable I felt like I was cocooned in a cloud. Awesome staff, nothing was too much trouble. Food and drinks were also great with a fantastic breakfast, yummy coffee. Nice jacuzzi pool on roof terrace
What could be improved: Difficulty getting parking outside hotel to get luggage in and out.Sue from New Zealand – 1 June 2025 (10/10)
