Riverside Hanoi Hotel Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Riverside Hanoi Hotel on Nguyen Dinh Hoan Street – it’s tucked away in this quieter part of Cau Giay district that most tourists never really explore. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special. The whole Nghia Do area has this laid-back residential vibe that feels refreshingly authentic after dealing with the organized chaos of the Old Quarter. You’re actually staying where locals live and work, not in some tourist bubble.
The hotel itself is solid four-star territory – nothing flashy, but they’ve got their act together. Check-in was smooth (I mean, the lobby’s a bit compact, but the staff genuinely seemed happy to see me), and I was impressed by how quiet my room was considering we’re still technically in the city. The thing about this location is you’re right by the Bo Song Road, which sounds like it might be noisy, but it’s actually pretty mellow compared to the motorbike symphony you get in central Hanoi. I slept better here than I did at fancier places closer to Hoan Kiem Lake, to be honest. The rooms are clean and well-maintained – not Instagram-worthy or anything, but everything works and the AC actually keeps up with Hanoi’s sticky summers.
What really won me over was how connected you feel to real Hanoi life from here. There’s this great little coffee shop about two blocks down where I’d grab my morning ca phe sua da alongside office workers heading to their jobs. The nearby Keangnam Tower area has proper shopping and dining if you need it, but I found myself wandering the smaller streets more often, discovering family-run pho joints and watching kids play in the small parks. It’s maybe a 15-minute taxi ride to the tourist spots (or you can brave the local buses if you’re feeling adventurous), but having this quieter base to return to each evening made the whole trip feel more… I don’t know, more real somehow. The 8.1 rating makes sense – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type who wants to experience Hanoi beyond the postcard version, this spot actually gives you that chance.

The room was really great.

Breakfast was good but closed early.
What could be improved: The location wasn’t the best, BUT that did mean that it was a quieter street.Jia from Taiwan – 10 December 2023 (9/10)
Room is pretty clean and cozy although wife is a bit weak. Other than that, it's pretty much fine for me.

Bathroom got jacuzzi, room was spacious, nice city view
What could be improved: Location is a bit far from tourist attractions but I don't mind since I'm staying there just to relax since it is my last day in hanoiAndy from United Kingdom – 1 January 2023 (9/10)
Lovely hotel, very clean, heating for winter and air con for summer, tea and coffee, comfy bed, secure parking, friendly staff, hot shower, fast WiFi – perfect!
What could be improved: It is far away from the centre. But if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle then it's a good option.
The only other issue is that on booking.com it says there's the option of breakfast but they don't do breakfast at the hotel. And there's no options for close by restaurants. So, either order via Grab or get a taxi to a local cafe.
The hotel otherwise is excellent.Andre from Thailand – 21 December 2022 (9/10)
The staff were amazing, nothing was too much, it was clean and well designed with all required facilities
