Salute Premium Hotel & Spa Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of hotels in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and honestly? Most of them are either trying too hard to be boutique or they’re basically glorified hostels with fancy lobbies. But Salute Premium Hotel & Spa on Cua Dong street – well, this one actually gets it right. You know that sweet spot between the chaos of Hoan Kiem Lake (literally a three-minute walk) and the relative quiet you need to actually sleep? That’s exactly where they’ve planted themselves. The building itself is narrow like most places in the Old Quarter, but they’ve made smart use of the vertical space. When I first walked in, I was expecting another cramped lobby situation, but the ceiling height surprised me – there’s this airy feeling that’s pretty rare in this part of town.
What really sold me on the place wasn’t the spa (though that steam room hit different after walking around in Hanoi’s humidity all day) – it was the small details that showed someone actually thought about what travelers need. The elevator is surprisingly quiet, which matters when you’re dragging yourself back at midnight after exploring the night markets. Your room key works consistently, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many places mess this up. And the staff – I mean, they actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Dong Xuan Market early to beat the crowds, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward Google Maps. He told me which entrance to use and mentioned that vendors start setting up around 6 AM if I wanted to see the behind-the-scenes action. That’s local knowledge you can’t fake.
The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, but with better attention to detail than most. The AC doesn’t sound like a jet engine, the shower pressure is actually decent (a minor miracle in this area), and there’s enough storage space that you’re not living out of your suitcase. I stayed during shoulder season in October, so I can’t speak to how it handles the summer rush, but the building’s design seems like it would stay relatively cool. One thing that surprised me – you can barely hear the street noise from most rooms, even though you’re right in the thick of everything. Cua Dong isn’t the busiest street in the Old Quarter, but it’s not exactly quiet either. Whatever they did with the windows works. The spa services are legitimately good too, not just hotel spa good – I’ve had worse massages at dedicated wellness places. If you’re planning to use Hanoi as a base for exploring northern Vietnam, this spot makes sense. You’re close enough to walk to all the main sights, but when you need to decompress from the sensory overload that is the Old Quarter, you’ve got a proper retreat waiting for you.

Everything about this hotel exceeded my expectations! I chose Salute Premium Hotel & Spa because of the amazing reviews, and it turned out to be even better in reality. The room was incredibly spacious, immaculately clean, and designed for maximum comfort. The bed was large and super cozy, making it hard to leave in the mornings. The breakfast buffet was simply outstanding—such a wide variety of fresh, delicious options every day. The location is also fantastic, right in the heart of Hanoi’s vibrant Old Quarter, making it easy to explore and soak up the local culture. But the absolute highlight was the staff. Every single person we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Their attention to detail and hospitality made me feel truly pampered. This place truly felt like a five-star experience in every way.
What could be improved: Honestly, nothing to complain about. Everything was perfect from check-in to check-out.Karina from Australia – 27 May 2025 (9/10)
The hotel was in a great location in the Old Quarter. Easy to walk around and see the sights. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. On the last day we had an early flight so the staff packed us some pastries and fruit to take with us. A big thankyou to the lovely Sue for being so friendly and professional. We would definitely stay again.
What could be improved: The lift is a little cramped but not much can be done about that.Neil from Philippines – 26 May 2025 (10/10)
Location was perfect. The hotel is situated on a not so busy street but is very near to famous attractions in Hanoi. Clean rooms (housekeeping did a good job) Very accomodating staff (was provided early check in – we reached the hotel at 9AM and was able to check in at 11AM instead of 2PM) Offered assistance for our tour to Halong bay and prepared breakfast for our very early departure (5AM)
Would definitely stay here again.
