Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Hanoi, and honestly, Sen Grand Hotel & Spa caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Nguyễn Khánh Toàn in Cau Giay district – which, if you don’t know Hanoi well, is actually a sweet spot because you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the Old Quarter chaos that you can actually sleep at night. The building itself has this modern elegance thing going on without trying too hard, you know what I mean?

What really got me was how they’ve nailed that balance between feeling upscale and still being approachable. The lobby smells like subtle jasmine (not that overwhelming fake hotel scent), and the staff – I mean, they genuinely seem to care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling pressure, and they actually gave me useful local tips instead of just pointing to tourist traps. The rooms are spacious by Vietnamese standards, and here’s something I always notice – the beds are actually comfortable, not just pretty. The spa is where they really shine though. After walking around Hanoi’s concrete jungle all day, sinking into one of their treatment rooms felt like finding an oasis. The massage therapists know their stuff, and the prices are reasonable compared to what you’d pay in Bangkok or Singapore for similar quality.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience real Hanoi life. There’s this amazing pho place about three blocks down that the hotel staff recommended – totally local, no English menu, just incredible food. You’re also close to Lotte Tower if you need some Western shopping therapy, and getting to Hoan Kiem Lake takes maybe 15 minutes by taxi (though honestly, the traffic can be unpredictable, so give yourself extra time). I stayed during the shoulder season in October, and the neighborhood felt alive but not overwhelming – families out for evening walks, street food vendors setting up around dinner time, that perfect Hanoi energy. The hotel’s breakfast spread is solid too – they’ve got Western options but also Vietnamese dishes that are actually authentic, not dumbed down for tourists. One small thing though – the wifi can be a bit spotty in some rooms, so if you’re planning to work, maybe mention that when you check in. But really, that’s a minor complaint for a place that gets so much right. The 8.6 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it delivers on what matters most when you’re traveling.

  The room, hotel and staff were exceptional. Breakfast was good and we had a very good stay and without doubt would stay there again. The staff could not do anymore for you, they gave us good advice where to eat and where to exchange money. Gym was small but equipment was good (no bench press or heavy free weights) it got the job done. Breakfast chef did your eggs or Omelettes however you wanted them….very very nice stay…..thank you to all your staff who are a credit to the hotel.
  
  What could be improved: OK, I do feel bad about bringing these up as we had such a nice stay at the hotel. The pool could do with a bit of maintenance. The tiles around the pool have rough edges and feel like sandpaper. A few of the tiles are also chipped and it is clear to see that they have been patched up in other places which is why they feel quite rough. The water in the pool wasn't maintained and need to be cleaned more often. I do understand that as most of the customers who stay there are Asians and Asians don't like the sun. So even though we had the pool to ourselves most of the week which was great, I did feel that it still needed to be maintain more regular…..having said that….great pool area and great view from the roof top pool.

  Loved the area where the hotel was. Nice to see a different part of Hanoi. Room is really nice and clean and comfortable. The staff is helpful and polite. They will help you with arranging tours or any other things you need. Breakfast is good buffet. Especially the pho was tasty. Cleaning staff is lovely and professional. Thank you
