First Impressions

Walking into Sen Grand Hotel & Spa managed by Sen Group, you immediately notice how they’ve managed to create this calm, sophisticated atmosphere right in the middle of Hanoi’s bustling Cau Giay district. The lobby has this modern Vietnamese aesthetic — not trying too hard to be trendy, but definitely polished in a way that makes you feel like you’ve made a good choice. What struck me most was how the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive, which honestly isn’t always a given at four-star properties.

Location & Neighborhood

The hotel sits on Nguyễn Khánh Toàn street, and I have to say, this location really works well for travelers who want to experience Hanoi without being stuck in the tourist bubble of the Old Quarter. You’re actually in a proper Vietnamese neighborhood where locals live and work, but still close enough to everything that matters. The area has great local restaurants within walking distance — I mean the kind of places where you’ll see Vietnamese families eating, not just tourists. Plus, having free private parking is honestly a game-changer if you’re planning to rent a car or motorbike to explore beyond the city.

The Rooms

My room was spacious by Hanoi standards, with floor-to-ceiling windows that actually opened (you’d be surprised how rare that is). The design feels contemporary without being cold — they’ve used warm wood tones and local textiles in a way that feels authentically Vietnamese rather than generic Asian hotel. The bathroom was particularly impressive, with a separate shower and tub, plus those little touches like quality toiletries that make you feel pampered. What I appreciated most was the attention to soundproofing — despite being on a busy street, I slept remarkably well.

Spa & Amenities

The spa is where Sen Grand Hotel & Spa really lives up to its name. I tried their traditional Vietnamese massage, and honestly, it was one of the best hotel spa experiences I’ve had in Southeast Asia. The therapists clearly know what they’re doing, and the treatment rooms have this zen-like quality that makes you forget you’re in the middle of a busy city. The fitness center is well-equipped too — not huge, but it has everything you need for a decent workout. There’s also a rooftop area where you can actually get some fresh air and city views, which is nice for evening drinks.

Why Guests Love It

The breakfast really deserves a mention — they offer Continental, Asian, and American options, but what impressed me was the quality of the Vietnamese dishes. You know how hotel pho usually disappoints? Well, theirs actually doesn’t. The couples who frequent this place (and there are many) seem drawn to the romantic atmosphere and the fact that it feels like a retreat from the city’s intensity. The 8.8 rating makes perfect sense when you experience the combination of genuine hospitality, solid amenities, and that sweet spot location that gives you the best of both worlds — authentic Hanoi life with tourist-friendly comfort.

  The room, hotel and staff were exceptional. Breakfast was good and we had a very good stay and without doubt would stay there again. The staff could not do anymore for you, they gave us good advice where to eat and where to exchange money. Gym was small but equipment was good (no bench press or heavy free weights) it got the job done. Breakfast chef did your eggs or Omelettes however you wanted them….very very nice stay…..thank you to all your staff who are a credit to the hotel.
  
  What could be improved: OK, I do feel bad about bringing these up as we had such a nice stay at the hotel. The pool could do with a bit of maintenance. The tiles around the pool have rough edges and feel like sandpaper. A few of the tiles are also chipped and it is clear to see that they have been patched up in other places which is why they feel quite rough. The water in the pool wasn't maintained and need to be cleaned more often. I do understand that as most of the customers who stay there are Asians and Asians don't like the sun. So even though we had the pool to ourselves most of the week which was great, I did feel that it still needed to be maintain more regular…..having said that….great pool area and great view from the roof top pool.

  Loved the area where the hotel was. Nice to see a different part of Hanoi. Room is really nice and clean and comfortable. The staff is helpful and polite.
