Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and honestly? Most of them feel like they’re trying too hard to be something they’re not. But Sena Boutique Hotel & Travel on Hang Hom Street – well, this one actually gets it right. The moment you walk through that narrow entrance (and I mean narrow, like most Old Quarter buildings), there’s this immediate sense that someone here really cares about the details. The lobby’s got this warm wood thing going on that doesn’t feel fake or overdone, and the staff greeting you aren’t just going through the motions.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to balance that authentic Vietnamese boutique feel with actual comfort – you know what I mean? So many hotels here either go full tourist-trap modern or lean so hard into “traditional” that you’re basically sleeping in a museum. Sena finds this sweet spot where yes, there’s character and local touches, but your shower actually has good pressure and the AC works properly (trust me, in Hanoi summers, this matters). The rooms aren’t huge – I mean, we’re talking Old Quarter real estate here – but they’re thoughtfully designed. Everything feels intentional rather than cramped. And honestly, the soundproofing is better than I expected given that Hang Hom can get pretty lively, especially on weekends when the nearby bars fill up with both locals and travelers.

The location thing is interesting because while every hotel in this area claims to be “perfectly positioned,” Sena actually is. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake – I timed it – but you’re on one of those side streets that doesn’t get the constant motorbike traffic that makes Hang Bac or Ta Hien unbearable at night. Plus, and this is something I only figured out after walking around for a few days, you’re right between the weekend night market area and the morning coffee scene around Hang Gai. The staff here seem to actually know the neighborhood too, not just the obvious tourist spots. When I asked about good pho for breakfast, they didn’t send me to some overpriced place catering to foreigners – they pointed me toward this tiny spot two blocks away where I was definitely the only non-Vietnamese person slurping noodles at 7 AM.

What really sold me on recommending this place though is how it feels like they’re running a hotel, not just managing a property. Check-in was smooth, they helped arrange a cooking class (and not at some tourist trap), and when I needed to extend my stay by a night, they actually made it happen even though I could tell they were pretty booked. The whole operation just feels more personal – like you’re staying somewhere people care about rather than just another inventory unit. For a four-star place in this location, with that kind of attention to detail and a 9 rating that actually feels earned rather than bought, it’s become my go-to recommendation for people who want to experience the Old Quarter without sacrificing comfort or dealing with amateur hour service.

  LOCATION✅
  The hotel is located at the center of old quarter; walking distance from lake, train street, Saint Joseph Cathedral and also there are a lot of restaurants and food stalls near the area. There ate also laundry shops and wellness spa.
  FOOD✅
  there are variety of food to chose from also fresh fruits are my favorite.
  STAFF✅
  The staff are nice and accommodating, they are always ready to help anytime. Also if you need to book a tour to go to Ha long Bay, Ninh Binh, Sapa etc Mr. Le Thanh can help to book the tour. We are happy and satisfied with Halong Bay and Ninh Binh Tour by Heritage travel.

  The hotel is located at the center of the city. Walking distance from all the tourist spots like the lake, train street, saint Joseph cathedral etc.
  Also there ate a lot of restaurants that sells variety of cuisines as well as wellness spa and laundry shops so it easier for us to move around.

  There are variety foods to chose from. Noodles, rice, juice, coffee, cereals, fruits ❤️❤️❤️
  CLEAN ROOM✅
  clean room and sheets.
  HELPFUL AND ACCOMMODATING STAFF✅
  The staffs are very nice, they are always ready to help. If you want to go to Nhinh Binh and Halong bay or anywhere in Hanoi Mr. Le Nhan will help for booking a tour.

  Perfect position in the heart of the Old quarter, real life and best food all around. The hotel is clean, quiet, amazing street view from the balcony. The real gem is the people working there: always smiling, sweet, organised. We could rent a motorcycle directly in the hotel. Big breakfast. Fully recommended.
