Sheraton Hanoi Hotel Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Hanoi, and the Sheraton on Xuan Dieu Road honestly surprised me in the best way. First thing you notice pulling up? The entrance feels almost understated for a five-star place – which I actually loved because it means they’re not trying too hard. The lobby has this warm, woody smell mixed with subtle incense that immediately tells you you’re somewhere special without being overwhelming.
What really gets me about this place is the location. You’re in Tay Ho district, which means you’re right by West Lake but – and this is key – you’re on the quieter side away from the weekend chaos that hits the main lakefront areas. I mean, you can walk to those trendy cafes and restaurants along the water in about five minutes, but when you come back to the hotel, it actually feels peaceful. The staff at check-in were refreshingly efficient too, none of that hovering-over-your-shoulder stuff some luxury hotels do. They just got me sorted and let me get on with it.
Here’s what I didn’t expect: the rooms face different directions, and if you get one overlooking the lake (definitely worth asking for), the view is genuinely stunning, especially around sunset. The beds are properly comfortable – not just hotel-marketing comfortable, but actually sleep-eight-hours-and-wake-up-refreshed comfortable. The bathroom setup is smart too, with good water pressure and toiletries that don’t smell like generic hotel soap. You know what’s nice? The air conditioning actually works quietly, which in Hanoi’s humidity is basically a lifesaver.
The restaurant situation is solid – their Vietnamese dishes are surprisingly authentic for a Western chain, and the breakfast spread has both international options and proper local stuff like pho and banh mi. I honestly spent more time in the lobby bar than I planned because it’s got this relaxed vibe where you can actually have a conversation without shouting over music. The pool area is decent sized and usually not crowded, though it gets busy with families on weekends.
If I’m being completely honest, the service sometimes feels a bit formal – like they’re following a script rather than just being naturally helpful. But that’s pretty minor compared to the overall experience. The location alone makes it worth considering, especially if you want to be near the expat area but not right in the middle of Old Quarter madness. Plus, getting taxis or Grab rides from here is easy, and you’re close enough to walk to some of Hanoi’s best international restaurants if you need a break from Vietnamese food (though honestly, why would you?). At an 8.2 rating, it’s sitting right where it should be – really good without being perfect, and definitely worth the splurge if you want comfort and location without the stuffiness that comes with some of the city’s more famous luxury spots.

The location is nearby the big lake, very refreshing. Breakfast and buffet options are very nice. Food is fresh. Staffs are mindful and polite.
What could be improved: I had issue with the accounting team missing the VAT invoice, discussed via email back and forth very time wasting. But eventually it was solved.Atsuko from Thailand – 11 June 2024 (9/10)

The lunch buffet is amazing don't bother with breakfast.
What could be improved: Don't do the breakfast if you like your bacon and sausage etc hot. Its not but coffee was good. The location is a pain to get to if there is a traffic issueIan from Australia – 12 February 2024 (9/10)
Everything is perfect at the Sheraton, from the check-in experience, the maintenance and cleanliness of the hotel, the comfort of the beds, the peace and quiet, the view from the window and the friendly, helpful staff.
What could be improved: The only criticism that I could make is that there are two ways into the hotel by car — if the lower entrance is closed for some reason, it's a bit tedious getting through the narrow streets to the upper entrance.Sidharth from Indonesia – 25 May 2023 (9/10)
What could be improved: Maybe get rid of the carpets in the rooms ?

The facilities in the hotel were good, the staff was friendly and well-mannered. The view from the room was excellent. Excellent hotel that I would recommend for family and friends.
What could be improved: Fewer restaurant options in the hotel. Too much seafood gets a bit overwhelming. The concierge staff needs to be a little more knowledgeable about tourist sites.Prem from Vietnam – 8 June 2022 (8/10)
