Soleil Residence WestLake Hanoi Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Soleil Residence on Xuân Diệu Street – you know how some hotel photos can be misleading. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The building has this modern Vietnamese aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard, and when you walk into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about the details. The staff greeted me with genuine warmth (not that rehearsed hotel smile), and check-in was refreshingly quick.
What really sold me on this place was the location – I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from West Lake’s shoreline, which locals call Hồ Tây. In the mornings, I’d grab coffee from the hotel and wander down to watch the joggers and tai chi groups along the water. The neighborhood is fantastic too; Xuân Diệu runs parallel to the lake and has some of Hanoi’s best cafes and restaurants that tourists rarely find. There’s this incredible bún chả place about two blocks away that had a line of locals every lunch – always a good sign. The rooms themselves are spacious by Hanoi standards, with these floor-to-ceiling windows that let in amazing natural light. I stayed on the fifth floor and could actually see glimpses of the lake through the buildings. The AC worked perfectly (crucial in Vietnam’s humidity), and the bed was legitimately comfortable – not just “hotel comfortable” but actually restful.
The area gets busy during weekend evenings when Hanoians come to the lake district to unwind, but it’s never chaotic like the Old Quarter can be. What I appreciated most was how the hotel felt connected to the neighborhood rather than isolated from it. The concierge – this guy named Minh – gave me directions to places that weren’t in my guidebook, like a weekend flower market that sets up near Trấn Quốc Pagoda. Parking was straightforward if you’re renting a motorbike, and they have arrangements with nearby lots for cars. The only minor thing I’d mention is that some rooms face the street, so there’s a bit of traffic noise during rush hours, but honestly, it’s part of Hanoi’s charm. The breakfast spread was solid – mix of Vietnamese and Western options, and they make a mean Vietnamese coffee. For the price point and that stellar rating they’ve earned, Soleil Residence really delivers. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re staying in Hanoi, not just visiting it.

Liked the location and the space in the apartment. Having a small deck was excellent. Good comfortable bed. Large fridge. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
What could be improved: Could have been cleaner, limited kitchen equipment.
