Sumitomo 4 Serviced Apartments & Breakfast Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Sumitomo 4? The name makes it sound like some corporate chain, but honestly, this place feels more like staying at your well-traveled friend’s apartment in Hanoi. It’s tucked away in this narrow alley — ngõ 12 off Đào Tấn street — which I’ll admit had me second-guessing my taxi driver at first. But that’s actually the charm of it. You’re literally steps from the chaos of Ba Dinh district, yet the moment you duck into that little lane, everything gets quieter.
The serviced apartment setup is perfect if you’re doing more than just crashing for a night or two. I mean, having a proper kitchenette changes everything when you’re dealing with Vietnamese breakfast timing (which, let’s be honest, doesn’t always align with Western stomachs at 7 AM). The breakfast they do serve is this interesting Vietnamese-continental hybrid — nothing fancy, but the phở they make is legit, and the coffee… well, you’re in Vietnam, so of course it’s good. What I really appreciated was how the staff actually remembered my name after the first day. Sounds small, but when you’re navigating a new city, that kind of recognition feels like having a home base.
The location thing is tricky to explain without sounding like a guidebook, but here’s the real deal: you’re close enough to walk to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum area (about 15 minutes if you don’t mind the heat), but far enough from the Old Quarter that you won’t hear motorbikes revving until 2 AM. Đào Tấn itself is one of those streets where actual Hanoians live and work — there’s a fantastic bánh mì lady two blocks down who definitely doesn’t speak English but will remember your order after three visits. The Lotte Tower is visible from some of the higher rooms, which gives you a good landmark for finding your way back after long days of wandering. Parking is… well, it’s Hanoi, so don’t expect miracles, but they’ve got arrangements with a nearby spot if you’re brave enough to rent a scooter. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me — it’s not trying to be the Metropole, but everything works, the AC is reliable (crucial during summer), and there’s something refreshing about a place that just does its job well without a lot of fuss. Plus, the value is solid for what you get in this part of the city.

Reviews of Sumitomo 4 Serviced Apartments & Breakfast
Mauricio from Indonesia – 14 January 2025 (9/10)
Impeccable place to stay. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Location is super convenient as well.
The mattress is in good condition and the main room offers a professional office room and a desk. Which was perfect for a remote worker like.
It was also super convenient that it offered a washing and a drying machine. I could do my laundry in the flat.
All was very clean and spotless.
10/10 really well deserved.
What could be improved: everything was good.Massimiliano from Netherlands – 21 November 2024 (9/10)
Bed, bathroom, couch, cleanliness, space. Good value for money.
What could be improved: Finding and entering the appartement is a bit unclear, but staff is very helpful and friendly.Raviteja449 from Singapore – 7 November 2024 (9/10)
The rooms are clean and just as shown in the pictures. We liked the bathtub, Japanese-style washroom, and the layout of the hall, kitchen, and bedroom—all met our expectations.
What could be improved: The room wasn’t cleaned daily, and breakfast wasn’t served every day due to some issues. Note: Rooms are typically cleaned and breakfast is served only on weekdays, but one day during the week, cleaning and breakfast service were missed.Chifeng from Taiwan – 21 July 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: While using YouTube of TV, its responding is a little bit slow.

Cnonla from Vietnam – 5 February 2023 (9/10)
The owner was always contactable and the security guard very helpful.
We were given free laundry service even though it was usually only available for long term renters.
Great quiet location – nearby supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants.
There is a local market with fresh food that can be cooked in the clean kitchen
What could be improved: Internet sometimes lost connection – mobile phone internet not great either due to being in the middle of a few buildings.
