Sushi House Lake View Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Sushi House Lake View? The name is honestly a bit misleading – I mean, yes, there’s a lake view if you crane your neck from certain rooms, but this place is way more than just another lakeside spot in Tay Ho. It’s tucked into this quiet residential pocket on Trích Sài street, which actually works in your favor because you’re close enough to the weekend night market chaos but far enough away that you can actually sleep.
The building itself has that modern Vietnamese apartment-hotel vibe – clean lines, lots of glass, nothing too fancy but everything works like it should. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep the service personal even though it’s clearly a bigger operation than your typical family-run guesthouse. The staff actually remembers your name after day two, and they’ll hook you up with honest recommendations (not just the places that probably give them kickbacks). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – good AC that doesn’t sound like a helicopter, decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out during video calls, and bathrooms where the hot water actually stays hot. I stayed in one of the higher floors and could glimpse West Lake through the buildings, especially nice during sunset when the light hits the water just right.
Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Tay Ho though – you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to some genuinely good local spots that most tourists never find. There’s this bánh mì lady about two blocks down who sets up around 7 AM, and honestly, her sandwiches are better than anything you’ll get in the Old Quarter. The hotel’s location means you’re also close to the expat bars and restaurants if that’s your scene, but you can easily escape to the quieter lake paths when you need a break from the city energy. Parking can be a bit tight if you’re renting a motorbike – the street gets pretty packed, especially on weekends when locals come to hang out by the lake. But the hotel staff will point you toward some side streets where you can usually find a spot. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you want that balance of being connected to Hanoi’s energy without being right in the thick of tourist central. Just don’t expect a resort-style lake view – this is more about being part of a real neighborhood that happens to be near the water.
