There’s a fantastic phở place literally two minutes down the street (the owner doesn’t speak English but trust me, just point at what other people are eating), and you can walk to the nearby An Khánh market in the mornings when it’s buzzing with vendors setting up their stalls. The hotel itself has this surprisingly clean, modern feel – the lobby smells like jasmine instead of that musty air conditioning smell you get in a lot of Vietnamese hotels. Check-in was smooth, and the staff actually remembered my name by day two, which doesn’t happen often.

What really won me over was the attention to small details that matter when you’re tired from walking around Hanoi all day. The beds are actually comfortable (not too firm, not too soft), the shower has proper water pressure – you know how rare that can be – and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine. The rooms are clean without being sterile, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I stayed during the rainy season in October, and while the streets outside were getting flooded, the hotel stayed completely dry and quiet. The Wi-Fi is reliable too, which saved me when I needed to change my flight last minute. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, but sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well without breaking the bank. Plus, grabbing a taxi or xe om from here to the main attractions is cheap and easy – drivers actually know where this street is, unlike some of the smaller hotels tucked away in random alleys.
