The Galaxy Home Doi Can Hotel and Apartment Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of places in Hanoi, and The Galaxy Home Doi Can caught me completely off guard – in the best possible way. When you first walk down Ngõ 279 (that’s the alley off Đội Cấn street, by the way), you might wonder if your GPS led you astray. It’s tucked into this quiet residential lane in Ba Dinh district, which honestly feels like a little secret once you discover it. The entrance is understated, nothing flashy, but the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place.
What strikes you first is how thoughtfully everything’s been put together – I mean, it’s not trying to be some massive international chain, and that’s exactly why it works. The rooms have this clean, modern vibe without feeling sterile, you know? There’s actually space to move around, which if you’ve been bouncing between cramped Old Quarter hotels, you’ll appreciate more than you expect. The apartment-style options are particularly clever because let’s be honest, sometimes you want to grab some fresh bánh mì from the street vendors and eat it somewhere other than a tiny hotel bed. Speaking of food, you’re about a ten-minute walk from some genuinely excellent local spots that most tourists never find – the kind of places where you point at what looks good because there’s no English menu, and it always works out.
Here’s what really sold me though: the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the Temple of Literature without dealing with crazy traffic, they didn’t just point me toward a taxi – they explained which bus routes locals use and mentioned that early morning is when the light hits the courtyard just right for photos. That’s the kind of insight you can’t google, honestly. The 9.4 rating makes sense when you experience little touches like that. Sure, it’s not in the absolute heart of the tourist action, but that’s actually a feature, not a bug. You get real quiet at night (rare in Hanoi), but you’re still close enough that a quick motorbike ride gets you anywhere you want to be. The whole setup just feels like staying at a well-designed apartment that happens to have hotel service – which, after a few days of typical travel chaos, is exactly what you didn’t know you needed.

Everything. I rebooked after I left and came back to Hanoi
What could be improved: There was absolutely nothing wrong with the propertyIndi from United Kingdom – 17 May 2025 (10/10)
Everything. The location is in a nice neighbourhood with nice coffee shops next door and convenience stores around. The building is super clean, everything is brand new and there is a lovely peaceful energy. The housekeeper comes everyday to clean. She is extremely kind and helpful and is excellent at cleaning. The building is safe and secure, close to the city centre and as a solo woman I felt very safe and happy. This is the only place I will stay when I next come to Hanoi. I would give 1000/10 if I could. Looks even better than the photos.
What could be improved: I didn’t like that I had to leave at the end of my stay. If I could stay forever I would!Luke from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (10/10)
The staff were very helpful, friendly and funny. The apartment was spacious and the washing machine was a bonus. The tv was huge and the induction cooker was great. The apartment was serviced every day which was appreciated. We would stay there again if it was in a different area. The area wasn’t very relaxing and the roads adjacent to the property are extremely busy. That being said, you can’t hear the traffic from the apartment, just the cockerel and barking dogs!
What could be improved: Nothing to do with the apartment. The location wasn’t great.Luke from Australia – 28 March 2025 (10/10)
Best place I stayed during my three weeks in Vietnam. The apartment has plenty of space, is comfortable, plenty of light, and having a fridge and washing machine in the apartment was very handy. The woman who cleaned the apartment was lovely. Neighbourhood isnt the most interesting but you still have supermarkets, restaurants and cafes in walking distance.

The apartment is very quiet except for the rooster. But it doesn't bother me. It's also safe, with the code given to access the apartment, nobody can enter easily. The apartment itself is tucked in a very narrow alley.
What could be improved: The pollution is so high, that once you step out of the building, you should wear a protective mask N95. The regular surgery mask (blue) doesn't suffice. The road is dirty and dangerous to go across. Just take time to walk and pay attention to the pavement, they're uneven and there are a lot of thrash along the streets.Gary from Singapore – 21 February 2025 (10/10)
Location and quietness of the place.
