The Hanoi Club Hotel & Residences Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Hanoi, and The Hanoi Club Hotel & Residences on Yen Phu Street actually surprised me. You know how Tay Ho can feel a bit removed from the Old Quarter chaos? Well, that’s exactly why this place works. It’s tucked into this quieter stretch where you can actually hear yourself think, but you’re still close enough to zip into the center when you want that proper Hanoi energy.
The thing that got me right away was how they’ve managed to feel upscale without being stuffy – I mean, it’s a 4-star place with an 8.4 rating, so expectations were decent, but honestly the lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance that doesn’t scream “hotel chain.” The staff actually remembers your name after day two, which is rarer than you’d think. My room faced the street side, and while Yen Phu isn’t exactly silent, it’s nothing like the motorbike symphony you get closer to Hoan Kiem Lake. The residences part of the name makes sense too – some guests are clearly long-term stays, business folks who’ve figured out this is a solid base without the tourist hotel markup you see in the French Quarter.
What really sold me was the neighborhood feel. There’s this little coffee spot about two minutes’ walk where locals actually go (not just expats), and you can grab proper banh mi from a cart that parks right at the corner most mornings. The hotel’s restaurant is fine – nothing spectacular, but their pho ga is surprisingly decent for a hotel kitchen. Parking was easy, which if you’re dealing with a rental car or taxi pickups, you’ll appreciate not having to navigate narrow Old Quarter streets. The pool area gets busy around 4 PM when families with kids show up, but mornings are perfect if you want to actually swim laps. One small thing – the WiFi is solid in rooms but gets spotty in the lobby during peak hours, just so you know. Overall, it’s one of those places that gets the balance right between comfort and authenticity, without trying too hard to be something it’s not.

beautiful hotel next to the lake , with lovely restaurant and delightful pool
What could be improved: all goodStanislav from Germany – 27 July 2024 (9/10)
Clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, quiet during the night.
The breakfast was okay, not bad, but also nothing special.
What could be improved: What I liked less was the request to pay for the entire stay during the check-in. As a rule, in other hotels I pay during the checkout.
At the end we agreed that certain amount will be just blocked on my credit card at check-in day, so the payment was done yet at the end of my stay.
All in all, a small episode, which didn't affect the overall positive impression.Vincent from Belgium – 16 July 2024 (8/10)

Helpful friendly staff
What could be improved: We asked for potato chips/fries and truffle fries. They arrived separately and were both cold. We asked for them to be reheated, and the manager in the restaurant told us: 'eat quicker', basically told bus it was our fault!?
