The Hota House Overview
You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first turned down that narrow alley off Phú Thượng street – I mean, it’s tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Tay Ho that most tourists never see. But The Hota House completely surprised me. This isn’t your typical Hanoi hotel experience, and that’s exactly why it works so well.
The thing about staying here is that you’re actually living like a local in one of the city’s most genuine neighborhoods. While everyone else is fighting crowds in the Old Quarter, you’re waking up to the sounds of motorbikes puttering past and vendors calling out their morning offerings (honestly, it becomes this oddly comforting soundtrack after a day or two). The staff – and I can’t stress this enough – they treat you like family from the moment you walk in. No corporate politeness, just genuine warmth that makes you feel like you’ve got friends in Hanoi. The rooms themselves are thoughtfully designed with this clean, modern aesthetic that still feels authentically Vietnamese. What really got me was the attention to small details… like, they actually have proper reading lights by the bed and enough outlets for all your devices – stuff that sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many places get wrong.
Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned without being in the chaos. It’s maybe a ten-minute walk to the lake (West Lake, not Hoan Kiem – though honestly, this is the better choice if you want to see how Hanoi really lives). There’s this incredible bánh mì lady who sets up her cart just around the corner every morning around 7 AM, and the coffee shop two blocks down makes better cà phê sữa đá than most of the touristy spots downtown. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you’ll see families gathered on plastic stools for dinner and kids playing in the alleys – it’s Hanoi as it actually is, not as it performs for visitors. Getting around is easy too; Grab picks you up without any issues, and there’s always xe ôm drivers hanging around the main street if you want the full motorbike taxi experience. I stayed during the rainy season and never felt stuck or isolated, which says something about how connected this little corner really is to the rest of the city. With a 9.7 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and after spending four nights there, I totally get why people keep coming back.

Tore oli katuseterassil keset talve päevitada. Olin ainus isik kes seda seal nautis. Korteri valdaja organiseeris pärast esimest päeva mulle ka uue lamamistooli sinna. Tänud talle
Korteris asuv innovatiivne 21sajandi WC pott avaldas väga muljet
What could be improved: Pilidi majutusest vähe informatiivsed
Nende järgi jäi mulje, nagu katuse terass ja aatriumiga teetuba on korteri osad, mis tegelikuses olid eraldi sissepääsuga ja asuvad mujalLinh from Vietnam – 14 February 2025 (10/10)
