You know what struck me first about TrangTrang Premium? It’s tucked away in this narrow alley off Cầu Gỗ street – and I mean narrow, like motorbikes-barely-fit narrow – but somehow that makes discovering it feel like you’ve found something special. The whole Hàng Bạc area is this maze of tiny streets where locals actually live and work, not just the tourist circus you get closer to Hoan Kiem Lake (though honestly, you’re still only a five-minute walk from all that action).

The lobby hits different than most Hanoi hotels I’ve stayed in. There’s this modern vibe that doesn’t try too hard to be trendy, if that makes sense – clean lines, good lighting, but not sterile. What really sold me was the staff actually remembering my name after day one, and not in that forced hospitality way. The rooms are legitimately nice, with proper soundproofing which is huge in Old Quarter. I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional motorbike convoy at 6 AM because, well, it’s Hanoi, but nothing like some places where you feel like you’re sleeping on the street. The beds are firm – Vietnamese hotel firm, not rock-hard firm – and the AC actually keeps up with the humidity, which anyone who’s spent July in this city will appreciate.

But honestly, the sky bar is where this place earns its keep. Most rooftop spots in the Old Quarter give you a view of someone else’s rooftop, but TrangTrang’s setup actually offers glimpses of the lake and proper city views. The drinks aren’t cheap by local standards, but they’re not tourist-trap expensive either, and the bartender makes a solid Old Fashioned if you need a break from Bia Hoi. I spent way too many evenings up there just watching the organized chaos of Hanoi traffic flow below. The whole area gets pretty quiet after 10 PM – it’s more residential than the backpacker streets – so you can actually have a conversation without shouting. Plus, being on a small side street means grabbing a taxi or Grab is never the nightmare it can be on the main drags. That 9.2 rating isn’t inflated marketing nonsense; this place genuinely gets the balance right between comfort and character, which is trickier than it sounds in a city where hotels either go full generic international or lean so hard into “authentic” charm that you’re scared to touch anything.

  The customer service was incredible, very friendly concierge and very helpful with recommending places to eat and things to do. From their recommendations we went on a day trip and it was the best part of our whole trip! The view was also incredible and very worthwhile.

  The staff are just amazing, I saw the other reviews but I thought how good can they really be, I was astounded they are so kind always helping and asking how you are and offering to do things for you, the hotel is also in an amazing location and super modern and clean

  Nice hotel in the centre of the old town. Close to everything. Clean. But, what topped it off were the staff. (Catherine, Ella and Lin) They were so friendly and welcoming as soon as I walked in the door. I’ll miss not seeing their smiling faces as every time I passed reception.
