The owner clearly knows the neighborhood – they pointed me toward this tiny coffee shop around the corner where the cà phê sữa đá costs about half what you’d pay in the Old Quarter. What I really appreciated was the practical stuff they don’t advertise: there’s actually decent water pressure (miracle in Hanoi), the AC works properly, and the wifi reaches every corner of the building. The breakfast isn’t fancy, but it’s real Vietnamese food, not the sad continental spread most places serve foreigners.

Here’s the thing about staying in Tay Ho versus the touristy areas – you get this authentic slice of daily Vietnamese life without the constant honking and tourist hassles. Sure, you’ll need to grab a taxi or xe om to get to Hoan Kiem Lake (about 15 minutes depending on traffic), but honestly, that’s part of the experience. The 8.6 rating makes total sense because it delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. It’s clean, the staff genuinely cares about your experience, and you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the expat haunts and local gems that most visitors never discover. If you want sterile luxury, look elsewhere, but if you want to actually experience Hanoi the way people live here – well, this is exactly the kind of place that makes you extend your stay.

  Although the area is a bit far from old quarter ( around 10 minutes by car) you can get really easy and cheap to the center. Moreover, its a quiet and safe area. The apartment is very modern and has great views.

  The young ladies were very professional for my arrival,and any help I needed they helped me directly especially figuring out the dryer in washing machine.
