You know what surprised me most about Westlake Pearl? It actually feels like you’re staying in someone’s really nice apartment rather than a typical hotel – which makes sense given the name, I guess. The place sits tucked away on this narrow alley off Tô Ngọc Vân street in Tay Ho, and honestly, I almost walked past it the first time because Vietnamese addresses can be tricky like that. But once you find it (look for the small sign, it’s there), you’re in for something pretty special.

The Tay Ho district is where a lot of expats live, so there’s this interesting mix of Vietnamese local life and international cafes around every corner. I mean, you can grab proper Vietnamese phở for breakfast and then walk five minutes to get decent Western coffee – it’s the best of both worlds. The hotel itself has that boutique feel you’d expect from a 4-star place, but with this homey touch that bigger hotels just can’t pull off. The spa part isn’t just a marketing gimmick either; they actually know what they’re doing with massages, which honestly saved me after all that motorbike riding around Hanoi’s chaotic streets.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in the city. Tay Ho isn’t as hectic as the Old Quarter (thank god), so you can actually sleep without earplugs. The staff – and this might sound cliché but it’s true – genuinely seem to care about whether you’re having a good time. They helped me figure out the local bus routes, which saved me a fortune on taxis, and one of them even drew me a little map to find this amazing bún chả place that definitely wasn’t in any guidebook. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in Southeast Asia. The 8.6 rating makes total sense when you consider you’re getting solid accommodation, helpful service, and you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the lake area and central Hanoi without feeling like you’re stuck in tourist central. If you’re the type who wants to experience Hanoi like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through, this spot hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  Was happy with everything, the room was amazing and the staff was always so helpful! The spa was nice as well and they had some nice dishes at the restaurant.

  Very clean, gracious staff, everything works well – A/C is quick to cool down the room and rooms come with a washing machine for convenience. The front reception speak good English and are very approachable – thanks to Hanna, on the front desk, who always supported my requests. I looked to returning.

  Nice apartment located about 15mins drive from old quarter, quiet area with restaurants and shops near by. The room was clean and modern with good facilities including a washing machine and smart TV.
  The staff are friendly and helpful especially the security who helped with our bags and made us tea when we arrived. We went up to the rooftop at night and had an amazing view of the city and lake. Would recommend for a quieter stay in Hanoi
