Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Westlake Pearl Suites on Xuan Dieu – I mean, this stretch of road has gotten pretty built up over the years, and sometimes the newer places can feel a bit soulless. But you know what? This place actually surprised me. The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see us (not that practiced hotel smile you get sometimes).

The location is what really sold me though. You’re right on the edge of West Lake, which locals call Ho Tay, and if you get a room facing the water – well, it’s worth asking for one when you book. Early mornings are magical here; I’d wake up around 6 AM and watch the mist lift off the lake while elderly Vietnamese folks were already out doing tai chi along the shoreline. The spa is actually pretty decent too – I was skeptical because hotel spas can be hit or miss, but they use local techniques and the massage therapist I had really knew her stuff. Fair warning though: book spa treatments in advance, especially on weekends when Hanoians come out to this area to escape the Old Quarter chaos.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to feel both polished and authentic. The suites are spacious (rare for Vietnam, honestly) and they’ve got these little touches like local artwork and quality linens that make a difference. The mini-kitchen setup is actually functional – not just for show – which came in handy when we grabbed fresh fruit from the weekend market just down the street. Parking was surprisingly easy, which anyone who’s driven in Hanoi will appreciate, and the neighborhood has this nice mix of local cafes and expat-friendly restaurants. You’re about a 15-minute grab ride from the Old Quarter when you want that energy, but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. The 9.1 rating makes sense to me – it’s not perfect (the elevator can be slow during busy check-in times), but it delivers on what matters: comfort, location, and that feeling like you’re staying somewhere that actually cares about the details.

  Room was huge and clean. Service was excellent. Requested for a super late check out because I arrived to check in only at midnight and the manager so kindly offered an extension on the house. The location was also great as there are many eateries around. Highly recommended.

  Stayed here as the last part of my trip travelling south east Asia, room was lovely and clean staff were so friendly and willing to help out with anything you need specifically Ms Juleen, Mr Hug and the lovely gentleman Mr Dragon where fantastic and left me with such a positive impression for the last part of my trip in Hanoi.

  The view on the lake from the bedrooms on the front are breathtaking. The hotel is super well located, the personal is super charming and helpful. Everything is super clean and the towels smell so good! I’m gonna miss that smell !!
