Wishhouse Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down that narrow alley off Chua Ha Street – you know how these tucked-away places in Cau Giay can be hit or miss. But Wishhouse totally surprised me. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about what travelers need, not just what looks good in photos.
The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re in this quiet residential pocket where you can hear the real rhythm of Hanoi life – motorbikes puttering by in the morning, neighbors chatting on their stoops – but you’re still only about a ten-minute walk to Lotte Tower if you need that urban energy. I mean, being tucked into Ngo 76 means you’re getting the authentic neighborhood vibe without the tourist chaos of the Old Quarter. The staff here gets it too; they’ll draw you little maps showing the best pho place two blocks over (trust me, go there) and which direction to walk if you want to find the local market that’s not overrun with tour groups.
What really won me over was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms have these thick curtains that actually block out the early morning light – you know how bright Vietnamese mornings can be – and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag. The beds are properly firm, not that weird hotel-soft that leaves you feeling like you slept in quicksand. And here’s something small but telling: they have enough outlets near the bed, positioned where you’d actually want them. Sounds basic, but you’d be amazed how many places get this wrong.
The breakfast situation is solid too – they do this mix of Vietnamese and Western options, but the Vietnamese stuff is clearly where they put their effort. Their pho bo is legitimately good, not the watered-down hotel version you sometimes get. I actually found myself looking forward to it each morning, which says something. The coffee’s strong and local, none of that instant stuff, and they serve it in proper small cups the way it should be.
You know what impressed me most though? The 9.4 rating isn’t inflated – it feels earned. The place runs smoothly without being stuffy about it. Check-in was quick, they stored my luggage without making it feel like a huge favor, and when I had questions about getting to the airport early in the morning, they had actual helpful information, not just “take a taxi.” During Tet season it gets busier obviously, but even then the service doesn’t slip.
Look, Wishhouse isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in Hanoi, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than in some generic hotel bubble. If you want to experience Hanoi from a proper neighborhood base while still having genuinely comfortable accommodations, this is your spot. Just don’t expect a pool or a spa – that’s not what this place is about.

A lovely property with a great comfortable bed, modern decor and a great tv. Highly recommend for a short stay.
What could be improved: The only things to improve – the apartment needs more cups and plates, there was not two mugs for us to have tea. Please add more of these things to the apartment.Ken from Vietnam – 10 May 2025 (10/10)
