The rooms are what I’d call cleverly designed – not huge, but they’ve maximized every corner without making it feel cramped. The AC actually works properly, thank god, and the beds are firmer than what you’ll find at most Hanoi hotels. What really sold me though was the little balcony situation – not every room has one, but if you can snag one facing the back courtyard, you get this unexpected quiet space that’s perfect for morning coffee or evening beer. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout, which matters if you’re trying to get work done.

Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk from the Dong Da district center, and honestly that’s the sweet spot. Close enough to grab street food on Thái Hà Street (the bún chả place two blocks down is ridiculous), but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night. The nearest convenience store is literally next door, and there’s a decent coffee shop – not touristy, just locals – about three doors down that opens at 6 AM. Getting to the Old Quarter takes maybe 15 minutes by taxi, or you can walk to the nearest bus stop in about five minutes if you’re feeling adventurous. Parking is tight if you’re renting a motorbike, but the hotel can usually sort something out. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it’s thoughtfully run and priced fairly. I’ve recommended it to three different friends now, and none of them complained, which is honestly rare for Hanoi hotels in this category.

  C'est apparemment une affaire familiale, gérée par Mme Thuy, une personne gentille et affable, l'établissement se trouve dans une ruelle et n'est pas visible ou indiqué ; il faut absolument prendre contact par téléphone et Madame Thuy est venue me chercher. Elle m'a donné la clef de la seule chambre du rez-de-chaussée, qui était pas trop mal équipée et surtout il y avait la bouilloire, très importante pour préparer mes boissons chaudes.
  
  What could be improved: À l'arrière du mur de la salle de bain, (soit dit en passant, n'avait pas d'eau chaude) je ne sais pas qui vivaient là, mais dans la journée il y avait une activité intense, j'avais la sensation qu'ils étaient dans la salle d'eau avec moi. Heureusement, en fermant la porte, les sons s'atténuaient énormément et le soir c'était calme. Dans la chambre, une porte vitrée fermée et occultée par un film teinté blanc, donnait directement sur la cuisine et l'espace commun, cela me gênait de voir des ombres bouger de l'autre côté et qu'on puisse me voir également déambuler ; d'autant plus que la lumière émanant de cette espace innondait mon lit. Il y a du potentiel, il y a des moyens pour améliorer cela.

  The owner was very kind, easy to communicate with and willing to help. They let us keep the luggage at their place even after we checked out.
