I mean, there’s actual counter space in the kitchenette where you can spread out your street food hauls from Hang Ma Street, and the windows are big enough that you actually get natural light (revolutionary concept, I know). The neighborhood itself is pretty fascinating once you start exploring – there’s this little café on the corner where the owner speaks perfect English and makes surprisingly good Western coffee, and if you walk about ten minutes toward Kim Ma, you’ll hit some of the best pho joints that tourists never find because they’re not marked in English.

The staff here seems to get that travelers want information, not just politeness. When I asked about getting to Noi Bai Airport, instead of just saying “take taxi,” they actually explained the bus route and timing – apparently the 86 bus stops pretty close by and runs every twenty minutes during rush hour. Small detail, but it’s the kind of thing that makes you feel like you’re getting insider knowledge rather than the standard tourist treatment. The 8.3 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be the Metropole, but for what it is (a solid, well-located base for exploring Hanoi), it delivers without any major disappointments. The air conditioning actually works, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and checkout was refreshingly drama-free. Plus, staying in Ba Dinh means you’re walking distance from some genuinely interesting stuff – the Temple of Literature is about fifteen minutes away, and the night market scene around here feels more authentic than the tourist-heavy spots closer to Hoan Kiem Lake.

  The key was collected quickly, as the host contacted me beforehand to check the check-in time. The key was convenient, as I didn't need it for the power plug. The room is brand new, modern and fully equipped for an even longer stay. I did not enjoy the fully automatic toilet. However, I appreciated the host's investment in contemporary household applicants. The host/ hotline was always responsive.
  
  What could be improved: I expected a more neat entrance/ reception desk. The staff used the lobby area to store old ACs, a big bag of used bottles, etc. Since there was no check-in computer, the staff took a photo of my ID card for the check-in. I once asked about how to switch from the faucet to the shower, and the hotline told the staff to come up to check. The staff who were there so not as happy as she was about the leave work. She did help me, as it took 10 seconds for her to show me how to use it. I understand her frustration about leaving work but had to stay for a minor issue. What I could not empathy was the tone and volume of her yelling at me from the hallway, banging on the door loudly and questioning me: How on earth do I not know how to use the shower? It was only a very brief moment, but enough for a bad experience with the stay.

  I loved this place and I would absolutely come back. I really recommend this place if you like peace and quiet. It has an embassy next to it so even if its quiet and not much people are around I feel safe. The school next to the hotel makes it lively in the morning and evening. I stayed with my aunt and it was the best. The bathroom is very modern and also has a kitchenette. It very much feels like a home.
  
  What could be improved: I didnt like that there wasn't a TV in the bedroom but it was solved by just not closing the door. We could see the TV from the bedroom but kinda wish the room has its own TV. They also only came to clean the room once, while we lived there for 5 nights. I wish they would clean every two days.
