The apartment itself has this really lived-in feel that I wasn’t expecting from a 4-star place. The owner clearly put thought into making it feel like an actual home rather than just another sterile rental unit. There’s this great little balcony where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of motorbike horns, which is pretty rare around Hanoi. The kitchen’s properly stocked too – not just the usual kettle and mini-fridge situation, but actual cookware if you want to hit up the local markets. Speaking of which, there’s a decent wet market about a 10-minute walk away where the aunties will definitely overcharge you at first, but the produce is incredibly fresh.
What really sold me on this place was how the Vinhomes complex works. It’s got this whole ecosystem going on with parks, walking paths, and even a decent gym if you’re into that. The security’s pretty tight – maybe too tight if you’re not used to gated communities – but it means you can actually leave your stuff without worrying. Parking’s included, which is huge if you’re renting a motorbike, and honestly the roads inside the development are so much better maintained than what you’ll find in the city center. The trade-off is that you’re definitely relying on Grab or your own transport to get anywhere interesting, but the rides to Hoan Kiem usually run about 150-200k VND depending on traffic. Late nights coming back can be pricier, just so you know.
The rating of 9 makes total sense once you factor in what you’re getting for the price point. It’s not luxury luxury, but it’s comfortable and clean with that homey touch that makes you want to actually relax instead of just crash between sightseeing marathons. The Wi-Fi’s solid – I was working remotely for a few days and had zero issues with video calls. Oh, and the shower pressure is fantastic, which might sound trivial but you’ll appreciate it after walking around Hanoi in the humidity all day.

Lan is a wonderful supportive host. I will never forget how sweet she was to help me get into the apartment when I forgot the electric password door. The Homestay is so accessible to convenient stores, spa, restaurants around. I love how quite the room at night, I had great sleep there.
What could be improved: The matress is a bit hard for my back but I still has a great sleep.
