An House – CINE Apt – Street food, Projector, Washer, 10 mins to Hoan Kiem Overview
First Impressions
Walking into An House – CINE Apt – Street food, Projector, Washer, 10 mins to Hoan Kiem, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the quirky name alone. But this four-star place in Hanoi actually delivers on its promise — it’s part boutique apartment, part entertainment hub, and completely unlike anything else I’ve stayed at in Vietnam. The whole concept feels like someone took a regular hotel room and asked, “What if we made this way more fun?”
Location & Getting Around
The Ba Dinh location is actually pretty smart — you’re close enough to Hoan Kiem Lake that it’s a genuine 10-minute walk (I timed it), but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can breathe a bit. What I really appreciated was being near some of Hanoi’s best street food without having to venture into the Old Quarter madness every time you want a decent meal. The neighborhood has this authentic feel where you’ll see more locals than backpackers, which honestly made the whole experience feel more genuine.
The Apartment Experience
Here’s where things get interesting — this isn’t your typical hotel setup. The projector situation is legit; I mean, who doesn’t want to watch movies on a big screen after a long day exploring? The kitchen setup is basic but functional, though honestly, with Hanoi’s street food scene right outside, I barely used it. What I did use constantly was the washer — and let me tell you, having clean clothes in Southeast Asia’s humidity is basically priceless. The whole space feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which couples seem to love (and I can see why).
Neighborhood Eats & Entertainment
The street food aspect isn’t just marketing fluff — there’s actually a decent selection within a few blocks. I found this incredible bun cha spot about three minutes away that locals frequent, plus a late-night pho place that saved me more than once. The restaurant scene here leans more toward family-run places than tourist traps, which means better food and better prices. Having that projector meant I could grab takeaway and actually enjoy it properly instead of eating hunched over a tiny table somewhere.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this place works because it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. If you want a traditional hotel with room service and a concierge, go elsewhere. But if you want something that feels like a local experience with modern conveniences — the washer, decent wifi, that surprisingly good projector setup — then this hits the mark. The fact that couples rate it so highly makes sense; there’s something nice about having your own space to decompress while still being connected to the city. Plus, parking is available, which in Hanoi is honestly a minor miracle if you’re planning to rent a motorbike.

I have been living in Hanoi for over a decade and I rent an apartment once or twice per month to experience different parts of the city. Since I have stayed in literally dozens of places throughout Hanoi, I can confidently state that this is one of the best values in the city. There are so many things to like. The host team is the best I've worked with Hanoi (by far). They will create a chat group with you and answer messages almost instantly. They are very lovely people and I will be checking out their other locations simply because I love working with them. The apartment looks exactly like the pictures. It is large enough for two people to be very comfortable. Everything you need is there: a projector with Netflix, a router that you can plug into if you have your own cable, a comfortable bed (it seems hard when you lay on it, but I slept like a log both nights), kitchenware to eat and cook, and a desk to work if you need it. The apartment is located in one of my favorite areas of Hanoi: Truc Bach lake. It is on the main street, so it becomes very lively at night (but not so noisy that you will lose sleep as everything closes around 10 or 11 pm). There are many good restaurants and cafes within a short walking distance. Whenever I stay in the area, I tend to stay on the island because everything you need is right there. If you're visiting and want to visit the Old Quarter, you can walk there in a few minutes (and it's a nice walk). This places has everything you need: I would honestly live here if I could.
What could be improved: To be completely objective, the only "dislike" is that the AC unit does not have a heater. So, I had to wear warm clothes. But, honestly: with all of the positives, I did not mind this one bit. If you are a foreigner, you probably won't be cold as Hanoi doesn't get cold compared to other places. I was only cold because I've lived here for so long and I've adjusted to the weather. During my stay, every foreigner I saw was wearing shorts and t-shirts. So, don't let the lack of a heater deter you: this is an awesome place.Haisen from Vietnam – 6 January 2025 (9/10)
