I’ll be honest – when I first found this studio apartment tucked away in Ngõ 35 off Cát Linh Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The address sounds complicated (and it sort of is the first time you’re looking for it), but once you figure out the alley system in Dong Da, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something pretty special. This isn’t your typical hotel setup – it’s more like staying in a friend’s well-designed apartment, complete with a washing machine that actually works properly. You know how rare that is in short-term rentals?

What really got me was the location, though. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Van Mieu area, which means you can hit up the Temple of Literature before the tour groups arrive, then duck back for a quick rest before exploring more. The neighborhood has this authentic Hanoi vibe – there’s a fantastic bún chả place just around the corner that I kept going back to, and the morning sounds of motorbikes and street vendors actually become this oddly comforting soundtrack. The studio itself is surprisingly quiet for being so central, probably because it’s set back in the alley rather than right on the main drag.

The space feels thoughtfully put together – not Instagram-perfect, but comfortable in a way that makes you want to stay longer than planned. The kitchenette has everything you need if you want to grab ingredients from the local market (which, honestly, is half the fun of staying in this neighborhood). Having that washing machine is clutch, especially if you’re doing the typical Vietnam itinerary and need to refresh your clothes between cities. The host clearly knows what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos. Check-in was smooth, and they gave me some solid local recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist spots – like this coffee shop on Cát Linh where the locals hang out and you can get proper cà phê sữa đá for about a third of what you’d pay in the Old Quarter.

The 4-star rating feels right – it’s not luxury, but it’s definitely a step up from the backpacker hostels, and the 8-point rating makes sense when you factor in the location and the fact that everything just works. You’re close enough to walk to major sites but far enough from the chaos of Hoan Kiem to actually get some sleep. Plus, being in Dong Da means you’re near some of Hanoi’s better restaurants and cafes that haven’t been completely overtaken by tourists yet. If you’re the type who likes to feel like you’re living somewhere rather than just passing through, this place hits that sweet spot.

  What could be improved: Отвратительный интернет, иногда его просто не было. Квартира уставшая и требует генеральной уборки. в микроволновке плесень и она воняет. Долго уходила вода в душевой, но ее прочистили .
