After two weeks of street food (amazing, but your stomach needs a break), being able to make simple pasta or scrambled eggs was honestly a blessing. The washing machine is tucked into this clever little nook, and there’s actually a decent drying rack – small detail, but crucial during rainy season. The whole place has this lived-in vibe with mismatched furniture that somehow works together, kind of like a Vietnamese grandmother’s house but with better WiFi. Speaking of which, the internet is solid – I had video calls with zero issues, which isn’t always a given in Hanoi.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. Dong Da has this residential feel where families are actually living their lives, not just catering to tourists. You’ll hear the occasional motorbike and maybe some karaoke from a few blocks away (it’s Vietnam, after all), but nothing like the constant buzz you get closer to Hoan Kiem Lake. The building itself is typical Hanoi – narrow, a bit worn around the edges, but the elevator works and the hallways are clean. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too; none of that awkward key-handoff-at-a-random-café situation I’ve dealt with at other places.

Look, this isn’t luxury accommodation, and the quirky decor won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. But for the price point and that 8.5 rating, it delivers exactly what most travelers actually need: a clean, functional space in a neighborhood that feels authentic. If you’re the type who wants to explore Hanoi like someone who actually lives there rather than just hitting the Instagram spots, this works really well.

  Vị trí trung tâm mà giá rẻ, tiện mua đồ ăn, bác bảo vệ và chủ homestay rất nhiệt tình, mình checkin sớm cũng thoải mái không mất thêm phí, có bếp nấu.
