Davidduc’s Apartment 5/41 Tay Ho Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Davidduc’s place? It’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Tay Ho that feels completely removed from the tourist chaos, but you’re actually right in the heart of one of Hanoi’s most interesting neighborhoods. I mean, Tay Ho can be hit or miss with accommodations – some places try too hard to be fancy, others feel like afterthoughts – but this apartment just gets it right.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Hanoi like someone who actually lives here. You’ve got the lake right there (and I mean right there – you can see it from the windows), plus all these little cafes and street food spots that locals frequent. There’s this bánh mì lady who sets up her cart about two blocks away every morning around 7 AM, and honestly, it’s better than any hotel breakfast you’ll get. The building itself is well-maintained – Davidduc clearly takes pride in the place, and it shows in those small details like actually having hot water that works consistently and air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. The apartment feels lived-in but not worn out, if that makes sense. You’ve got proper kitchen facilities (which is huge when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the market), and the bed is actually comfortable – not too soft, not like sleeping on concrete.
What really sets this apart is how it sits in the neighborhood. Tay Ho has this interesting mix of expat families, young Vietnamese professionals, and the occasional tourist who’s figured out that this is where you want to be. You’re close enough to walk to some excellent restaurants along the lake – there’s this Italian place about ten minutes away that’s surprisingly good, and the Korean BBQ spots are legitimate. But you’re also far enough from the backpacker madness of the Old Quarter that you can actually sleep at night. The 8.6 rating makes sense when you stay here; it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but everything works the way it should. Davidduc responds quickly to messages, check-in was straightforward, and the WiFi actually handles video calls without cutting out every five minutes. The only minor thing is that the street can get a bit busy during rush hour, but honestly, that’s just Hanoi being Hanoi. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentic without sacrificing comfort – and where you can walk to both the lake and some of the city’s best food – this is exactly what you want.

Hơn cả mong đợi, với mức giá này rất rẻ. Anh quản lí rất dễ thương, luôn hỗ trợ khi gặp về đề gì. Căn hộ cực kì rộng thoáng mát, rộng rãi, đầy đủ các tiện nghi
What could be improved: các tủ bếp hơi hôi, và lộn xộn xíuTrâm from Vietnam – 13 May 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: 1. Construction in the vicinity made the place less pleasant.
2. there was not a proper entrance to a residential development place. There was a garage like shutter instead of a gate which the security guy opened for us when we were late.
3. the security guy was not very friendly and he switched off the light when other group members were waiting for me
4. the host had not kept any water in the apartment. It’s ok to charge for water but KEEP IT.
5. the initial address and actual location were a bit away from each other.
6. the towels were dirty and not replaced even when we pointed it out.
7. we had to buy our own handwashMathew from Australia – 6 January 2024 (5/10)
Location was great, the property had a good layout and was relatively clean.
What could be improved: Staff weren't very welcoming, we did not get the apartment pictured, the floors were filthy, the communal bathrooms water stank so much that we didn't use it, tv did not work (only netflix/youtube), internet in the bedroom was poor, the mattress's were rock hard.
Place was bare-able and in a good location, but was presented in a manner that made you think the host didn't care.Andrei from Italy – 7 December 2023 (6/10)
The apartment was very nice and spacious, comfortable beds, and located in a very good area.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, it is true that we booked the room at 3PM but on arrival at 7PM the place was not clean yet, so this made us feel uncomfortable, the apt was not ready for us to check in.Shlomi from Israel – 13 August 2023 (9/10)
תמורה מאוד טובה למחיר, קרוב לבית חב״ד, דירה מטורפת חדשה ונקיה
What could be improved: אין מספיק מגבות ונייר טואלט
