DE LA SOIE Hotel & Travel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into DE LA SOIE Hotel & Travel, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical tourist trap hotel. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels authentically Vietnamese rather than trying too hard to impress international guests. It’s a three-star property, but honestly, the attention to detail makes it punch above its weight class. The staff greets you with genuine warmth — not the rehearsed kind you get at chain hotels.
Prime Old Quarter Location
Here’s what makes this place special: you’re right on Hàng Đào street in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. I mean, you literally step outside and you’re surrounded by centuries-old architecture, street food vendors, and that incredible energy that makes this neighborhood so addictive. The weekend night market happens just steps away, and Hoan Kiem Lake — where locals do their morning tai chi — is maybe a three-minute walk. You know what’s really convenient? The airport bus stops nearby, so you don’t need to negotiate with taxi drivers when you’re jet-lagged.
The Rooms
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed, which is exactly what you want in the Old Quarter where space is premium real estate. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the air conditioning actually works well (trust me, this matters in Hanoi’s humidity). What I appreciated most was the soundproofing — considering you’re in one of the busiest parts of the city, you can actually get decent sleep. The bathroom is modern and clean, though don’t expect a huge space to spread out all your stuff.
Local Insights
The hotel staff really knows their neighborhood, and they’re not just giving you generic tourist advice. They pointed me toward this incredible pho place around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise — it’s tucked away in an alley with no English signage. There’s also a traditional medicine shop next door that’s been family-run for generations, which gives you a real glimpse into local life. The front desk can arrange motorbike rentals if you’re feeling adventurous, and they actually give you honest advice about traffic patterns (spoiler: avoid rush hour at all costs).
Why Guests Love It
What really sets DE LA SOIE apart is how it balances authentic local experience with comfort. You’re not isolated in some sterile hotel bubble — you’re genuinely living in Hanoi’s most historic neighborhood. Couples especially seem to love this place, probably because there’s something romantic about wandering those narrow streets together in the evening when the motorbike traffic dies down. The value is solid too — you’re getting prime real estate location without paying premium prices. It’s the kind of place where you spend less time in your room because there’s so much happening right outside your door, but when you do retreat inside, everything works exactly as it should.
Hanoi’s apartments welcome families with playground courtyards, bilingual childcare, and kitchenettes for cooking classes.

Highly recommended!
Phenomenal location, with two stunning roof terraces overlooking market street in the old quarter and views over the lake.
Beautiful rooms meticulously maintained. The staff are all so helpful, professional and always going the extra mile for their guests. Great laundry service and they were able to help me exchange money with some notice.
Once I found this place I kept coming back, and other travellers I met along the way swapped hotels once they found it.
The best banh mi right on your doorstep as it has such high footfall, open all hours. Note coffee and café dinh are a stones throw away.
Incredible value for money, the perfect base to really maximise your time in Hanoi.
What could be improved: That I wasn’t able to stay longerErica from Switzerland – 15 May 2025 (8/10)
The hotel is centrally located right next to the lake. The staff were great. The hotel allowed us to use their showers after we had checked out, before we needed to leave for the next leg of our trip.
What could be improved: Like all places we stayed in Vietnam, there was some mold in the bathroom.Samantha from Australia – 4 May 2025 (9/10)

We stayed 4 nights here and had a fantastic time in Hanoi. The staff were very helpful, gave some great recommendations for places. We really enjoyed people watching from the rooftop, over looking the Shark Jaw, and the location is perfect for the lake, the weekend walking street, and lots of shops and restaurants. The laundry service was great. We were on the 4th floor, with a balcony and we did not find it too noisy at night at all.

At the beginning of our travels we stayed here & we loved it so much we stayed here again on the tail end of our trip. The staff here are exceptionally kind, helpful, and accommodating. We are on our honeymoon & they gave us some fruit & drinks with a little hand made note on our first night. The location is great, the rooms are nice, and the upstairs balcony everyone can enjoy is a treat. Def stay here if you're in town!

Lovely staff, amazing location in a central area with great soundproofing so can’t hear the traffic. We booked and arrived at 1am and the check in process was smooth and the staff were very accommodating. The rooftop views are great too!

Centrally located hotel, right in the middle of the old quarter in Hanoi. Close to the lake which is lovely to walk round. Comfortable, clean hotel with very helpful staff. We had everything we needed. Plenty of places to grab breakfast right outside the door.
