You know what struck me first about the Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake? It’s actually positioned perfectly on Giảng Võ street – and I mean that in the best way possible. Most people think they need to stay right in the Old Quarter to experience Hanoi, but honestly, being in Ba Dinh district gives you this perfect balance. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the motorbike chaos that you can actually sleep at night.

The hotel itself feels like someone took a luxury property and made it… well, livable. The lobby has this warm, contemporary vibe without being stuffy – marble floors that don’t echo too much, comfortable seating where you can actually work on your laptop without feeling like you’re camping out. What I really appreciated was how the staff handled the constant stream of questions from guests (myself included) about getting around the city. They genuinely know their stuff about which xe om drivers to trust and which pho places are worth the walk. The rooms are spacious by Hanoi standards – I mean, you can fully open your suitcase without having to close the bathroom door, which is saying something. The air conditioning actually works properly too, which you’ll definitely appreciate during those sticky summer months when the humidity makes you question all your life choices.

Here’s the thing about this location that took me a while to figure out – you’re literally a ten-minute walk from some of the best street food in the city, but it’s the kind of area where locals actually eat, not the touristy spots that charge double. There’s this incredible bun cha place around the corner that I stumbled onto purely by accident, and honestly, it ruined every other bun cha for me. The hotel’s breakfast is solid (they do a decent pho alongside the international options), but step outside and you’re in food paradise. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re renting a car – the streets around here weren’t exactly designed for modern traffic – but the hotel works with you on it. The 8.9 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here a few days. It’s not flashy in that Instagram-perfect way, but everything just… works. The Wi-Fi is fast, the hot water is reliable, housekeeping doesn’t wake you up at dawn, and the concierge actually helps instead of just handing you a generic map. Plus, you can walk to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum area without dealing with taxi negotiations, which saves both money and sanity. I’ve stayed in fancier places in Hanoi that left me more frustrated than relaxed, so sometimes it’s the hotels that nail the basics while adding just enough luxury touches that end up being the most memorable.

  It was a beautiful experience. It felt majestic to be surrender by gold, the bathroom was nice and the view was so beautiful. The staffs were also warm and the staff at the front desk could converse well in English.

  Went here for the gold! 😀 Big rooms, great facilities.
  
  What could be improved: Was great for the gold gimmick but ultimately it was more focused on what it was than what it now is. Specifically it's quite dated. Photos not up to date i.e. fireplaces removed, the gold baths now some sort of brass etc. For the money not really worth it. Staff also not the most friendly.
