Family Hanoi Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Family Hanoi Hotel feels like discovering one of those perfectly positioned gems that locals somehow keep to themselves. This three-star property sits right on Hang Hanh Street in the heart of Hanoi‘s Old Quarter, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. You’re literally steps away from the weekend night market chaos and those tiny plastic stool eateries that serve the best pho you’ll ever taste — I mean, you can smell the street food from the lobby.
The Perfect Spot
What really struck me about this place is how it manages to be right in the thick of everything without feeling overwhelming. Hoan Kiem Lake is just a quick walk away, which means early morning tai chi sessions if you’re into that sort of thing, or evening strolls when the heat finally breaks. The hotel scored a 9.7 for location, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You’re close enough to hear the motorbike symphony that is Hanoi traffic, but the room windows actually do a decent job of muffling it when you need sleep.
Sleep Quality That Surprises
Speaking of sleep — and this might sound weird to focus on — but the beds here are genuinely comfortable. I’ve stayed in plenty of budget places across Southeast Asia where you wake up feeling like you wrestled with a wooden plank all night, but that’s not the case here. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully laid out with enough space to actually unpack your backpack without creating a disaster zone. There’s something refreshing about a place that gets the basics right instead of trying to wow you with fancy extras they can’t afford to maintain properly.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
The breakfast situation here actually impressed me more than I expected. They’ve got this whole spread going — continental options, full English if you’re missing home, and proper Vietnamese dishes if you want to start your day authentically. What I appreciated most was seeing vegetarian, vegan, and even halal options clearly marked. You know how some places just throw together a sad fruit plate and call it vegetarian? Not here. They seem to actually understand that travelers have different needs, and they’ve planned accordingly.
Why Guests Love It
The staff here operates with that particular Vietnamese hospitality that feels genuine rather than scripted — they’ll actually help you figure out which bus to take or recommend a bánh mì spot that isn’t in your guidebook. Couples especially seem to love this place, rating it 9.6 for romantic trips, which makes sense when you consider you can walk to Hoan Kiem Lake for sunset or duck into one of the nearby rooftop bars for drinks. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night because leaving feels like too much effort, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want from a base in Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

Reviews of Family Hanoi Hotel

They have comfortable, big beds. Good location, few minutes walk to Hoan Kiem Lake and St. Joseph Cathedral, good location. Comfort room is good as well, with hot water. Accommodation includes breakfast just a few steps at another hotel, good breakfast also. Helpful and nice staff. They (Helen) offered us good rates for tours even before arriving, they (Helen and David) sent us via email about some tours they are offering. We love it here. 😁 Thank you so much!

I liked the location, it’s in ideal spot in old town. Once you step out of this place, food options are everywhere, spa, laundry, etc. The balcony (small but better than nothing) with sitting area, is a good place to people watch while sipping coffee. The room was clean and we didnt have any issue. Staff are responsive, polite, friendly. Breakfast is in nearby sister-hotel of this place, just about 10meters away. The food selection is not plenty but enough for us.
Laundry and tours are available too.
I liked this place, I wish we have more time to stay longer. 🙂
