You know what caught me off guard about G-Apartment & Hotel? It’s tucked away on Phó Đức Chính street in Ba Dinh, and honestly, the location is kind of perfect in this understated way. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum – which sounds touristy, but hear me out. The whole area has this calm, residential vibe that’s completely different from the chaos of the Old Quarter. You can actually sleep here without motorbikes honking under your window at 6 AM.

The building itself feels more like a boutique apartment complex than a traditional hotel, which makes sense given the name. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – the staff actually remembered my name the next day, which doesn’t happen often in Hanoi. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully modern” – clean lines, decent space (a real luxury in Vietnam), and they’ve got this thing where the bathroom fixtures actually work properly. Sounds basic, but you’d be amazed how many places get this wrong. The beds are firm in that good way, and there’s proper blackout curtains, which is clutch if you’re dealing with jet lag. One thing that impressed me was the attention to small details – like, they provide real hangers instead of those flimsy wire things, and there’s actually enough outlets for all your devices.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the neighborhood. Ba Dinh district is where a lot of government buildings are, so it stays pretty quiet in the evenings, but during the day you’ve got locals going about their business – not just tourists taking selfies. There’s a great pho place about two blocks down (just look for the plastic stools on the sidewalk), and you can walk to the Temple of Literature in maybe fifteen minutes. The staff gave me directions that actually made sense, which is rarer than it should be. Parking isn’t terrible if you’re renting a motorbike, though honestly, you can walk to most of the major sights from here anyway. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not flashy or trying too hard, but everything just works the way it should. If you want to experience Hanoi without feeling like you’re camping in the middle of a street market, this is your spot.

  Comfortable big apartment. Perfect if you want more space than a hotel room and also to use a kitchen if you are tired of restaurants. The washing machine is super handy specially if you have been travelling for long and you are staying for many days. Staff was super helpful during our stay and they even help us drying our clothes. Also we were leaving Hanoi for a few days and they help us keeping one of our backpacks until we come back.
  Location is great specially if you don’t want to be in the craziness of the old quarter but you’re still really close
  
  What could be improved: It wasn’t clean enough when we arrived. Floors can be cleaned more properly and the tub should be scrubbed harder because it was dirty. Also the washing machine should be cleaned every time, when we arrived there were towels and sheets from the housekeeper inside. For the kitchen it would be more helpful to have a pan and some utensils like spatulas and big spoons.
  Also some amenities for washing dishes and clothes would be appreciated.
  Even though i mentioned all this, i would definitely stay again here as it was super comfortable and spacious.
