The thing about staying here is you’re about a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, which honestly becomes your morning ritual whether you plan it or not. But here’s what I really appreciated – the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but they’ll point you toward the good pho place that opens at 6 AM (it’s around the corner, locals only), or tell you which streets get completely jammed during rush hour so you can time your wandering better. The hotel itself has that silk theme going on, which could’ve been cheesy, but they pulled it off with some restraint. The rooms feel genuinely comfortable rather than trying too hard to be fancy, and the beds are actually good – I slept better than I expected given all the street noise you typically get in this part of Hanoi.

What really won me over though was how they handle the little things that matter when you’re jet-lagged and trying to figure out a new city. Check-in was smooth even when I showed up early, and they stored my bags without any fuss. The front desk genuinely helped with restaurant recommendations (not the tourist trap versions), and when I needed to arrange a day trip to Ha Long Bay, they connected me with someone reliable instead of just pushing the most expensive option. The location means you’re walking distance to everything that matters – the weekend night market, all those narrow streets with the endless food stalls, even the Temple of Literature if you’re feeling cultural. But you’re also on a street that’s busy enough to feel safe walking around at night, which isn’t always a given in every part of the Old Quarter. Sure, you’ll hear some street noise, but that’s just Hanoi being Hanoi. The 8.9 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it gets the important stuff right and the location is honestly hard to beat for the price point.

  I got a free upgrade to a family room so I had a spacious room with bathtub, fridge etc. There are free snacks available in the lobby. The staff is really nice and helpful. The location is in the old quarter.
