Hanoi Daewoo Hotel Overview

So I’ve stayed at the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel a few times now, and honestly? It’s one of those places that just gets it right. The building itself is this impressive tower on Kim Ma Street – you can’t miss it – and it’s got that solid, established feel that some of the newer places in Ba Dinh district are still trying to achieve. I mean, when you walk into that lobby, there’s this immediate sense that you’re somewhere that’s been doing luxury hospitality for a while.

What really struck me the first time was how the staff actually remembers things. Like, the concierge will remember that you asked about getting to the Old Quarter yesterday and will check if you found your way okay. That kind of attention isn’t something you can fake, you know? And the location – well, it’s not right in the tourist chaos of Hoan Kiem, which is actually perfect if you ask me. You’re close enough to everything (the Lotte Tower is literally a few minutes away), but you can actually get a decent night’s sleep without the constant honking that comes with staying in the heart of the Old Quarter. The Kim Ma area has this nice mix of local life and expat community, so you’ll find everything from authentic pho joints to decent Western breakfast spots within walking distance.

The rooms themselves are spacious by Hanoi standards – and I mean actually spacious, not just “well, it’s bigger than a closet” spacious. The beds are comfortable, the AC works properly (crucial during those sweltering summer months), and the bathrooms have that deep tub situation that’s perfect after a long day of navigating Hanoi’s wonderfully chaotic streets. You know what I really appreciate? The soundproofing is solid. Kim Ma can get busy with traffic, but once you’re in your room, it’s peaceful. The WiFi is reliable too, which matters if you’re trying to work or just want to video call home without freezing every thirty seconds. Now, the breakfast buffet is pretty good – not groundbreaking, but they do a decent mix of Vietnamese and international options, and their pho is actually respectable, which says something. The pool area is nice for a quick dip, though it can get crowded on weekends when locals come in for events. One small thing – the elevators can be a bit slow during peak hours, but that’s pretty standard for older luxury hotels. Overall, it’s got that 8.3 rating for good reason. It’s the kind of place where everything just works smoothly, the staff genuinely cares about your experience, and you feel like you’re getting solid value for a five-star property in Hanoi.

Reviews of Hanoi Daewoo Hotel

  • Pan from Taiwan – 29 March 2025 (8/10)

    Very comfortable

  • Vitrdamda from South Korea – 25 March 2025 (9/10)

    Everything is perfect.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Omar from Jordan – 6 March 2025 (9/10)

Everything was great and as many colleagues argued the it's the best hotel in Hanoi, from staff to facilities, location and food, would highly recommend.

What could be improved: The only negative comment is about the permenantly closed room window as that caused bad ventilation and would trigger allergies and raspatory discomfort.

  • Tan from Singapore – 4 March 2025 (9/10)

    Friendly and efficient staff.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Cs from South Korea – 2 November 2024 (8/10)

    Overall

What could be improved: It was very confused with the breakfast payment on the spot

  • Elissa from Singapore – 14 October 2024 (7/10)

Large rooms, clean, vegan options at breakfast

What could be improved: The staff was often rude and arrogant. It felt like every move was being watched and we were constantly told we could not sit or stand in certain spots or eat in certain areas. Check in and check out took a long time. As an adult, it felt like I was being policed like a child the entire time.

  • Youngjin from South Korea – 19 August 2024 (8/10)

    Staff, room condition,

What could be improved: I am suffering food positioning after eating raw seafoods served by buffets.

  • Sanghoon from South Korea – 26 June 2024 (9/10)

    everything is good

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Sasha from Vietnam – 28 May 2024 (8/10)

    Great pool.

What could be improved: Reception staff unfriendly and unhelpful. Got accused of bringing an extra guest to my room and harassed which was not fine. Until they realised they were wrong and apologised later. Breakfast underwhelming.

  • Goh from Singapore – 25 March 2024 (9/10)

Buffet breakfast had variety with some options changing daily. Spa and massage facilities are good.

    What could be improved: NA
