Hanoi Emerald Waters Hotel Valley Overview

Honestly, I walked past the Hanoi Emerald Waters Hotel Valley three times before I realized this tiny gem was tucked right there on Lò Sũ street. You know how some of those narrow Old Quarter streets can hide places in plain sight? This one’s like that – but in the best possible way. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s pretty remarkable considering you’re literally in the heart of Hoan Kiem district where motorbikes are basically background music 24/7.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to create this oasis feeling without being all stuffy about it. The lobby has this understated elegance – I mean, it’s not huge or anything, but there’s something about the way the light hits the polished floors in the morning that just works. The staff actually remembers your name after day one (not just because they’re reading it off a computer screen), and they’ll give you the kind of local tips that matter. Like, they told me the best time to hit Ngoc Son Temple is right around 7 AM when the morning exercisers are finishing up their tai chi – turns out they were absolutely right.

The rooms are where this place really shines though. Everything feels thoughtfully done rather than just expensive for the sake of it. The beds are proper comfortable – not too soft, not too firm – and the AC actually works without sounding like a jet engine, which honestly is half the battle in Hanoi summers. I loved that the windows actually open (you’d be surprised how many hotels seal you in), so you can hear the city wake up if you’re into that sort of thing, or keep them closed when the street gets busy around lunch time. The bathrooms are spotless and the water pressure is consistently good, which might seem basic but you’ll appreciate it after a long day wandering around the Temple of Literature or dealing with the beautiful chaos of Dong Xuan Market.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a five-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake – close enough that you can easily do morning walks around the water, but far enough from the weekend night market crowds that you’ll actually sleep. The little coffee shops and pho places on the surrounding streets are the real deal, not tourist traps, and there’s something magical about grabbing a coffee and watching the organized chaos of morning traffic from one of the sidewalk stools nearby. Check-in was smooth, they held my luggage without any fuss when I arrived early, and honestly the whole experience just felt… easy. You know how sometimes travel can feel like you’re constantly solving small problems? This wasn’t that. With a 9.5 rating, I expected it to be good, but I didn’t expect to feel like I’d discovered something special. If you want to experience Hanoi without feeling like you’re camping or breaking the bank, this place gets it right.

The team were amazing, Grace was so helpful with my flight changes and organising airport pick up.
My room when I first arrived had a slight smokey smell and they were so quick to address it I couldn’t have asked for better service. Location is great. The whole team are wonderful! I would definitely stay here again!

  • Basil from United Arab Emirates – 4 June 2025 (10/10)

I had a wonderful 3-night stay at this hotel! The place is very clean, the location is perfect just a short walk from central Hanoi and close to many attractions. What really made the stay special was the staff: incredibly friendly, helpful, and always welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Hanoi!

I want to extend my deepest gratitude for making my stay absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and cared for, and that’s all thanks to the incredible people at your hotel.

A special mention goes to Grace, who helped us organize the most wonderful excursion. She was not only attentive but also made sure everything was perfect from the beginning to the end of our trip. Her care and attention to detail made a world of difference.

Dave, the receptionist, is such a warm and charming person. His big smile and willingness to help with anything, whether it was a question or a simple request, truly made us feel like we were in great hands. His kindness was felt from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.

And of course, Tom, the bellman, who was always so pleasant. Whether he was opening the door with a smile, lending us an umbrella, or helping with our luggage, he made every moment that much easier and more enjoyable.

The warmth and attention from all of you made my stay feel like more than just a vacation — it felt like being part of a family. Thank you for going above and beyond to create such an incredible experience. I will carry these memories with me for a long time and will be sure to recommend Emeralds Waters to all my friends and family.

I can’t wait to return next week!

With heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes,

Bed was extremely comfortable, shower had excellent pressure and flow. We loved the complimentary toiletries.

We’re a family of six and had a fantastic experience here. Grace and Kate helped us arrange transportation to Sapa the night we arrived in Vietnam, even though our booking wasn’t until a few days later. Grace also organized our hotel pick-up and drop-off, making everything completely stress-free! When we returned to Hanoi, she even gave us a map and suggestions on where to go.

The room was very clean, the air conditioning was cold (a lifesaver in the Hanoi heat), and the water pressure was great. Breakfast was good, and the laundry service was cheap and convenient. They also arranged Ha Long Bay tour and other tours at a very reasonable rate. They lock the doors after midnight, which made us feel extra safe, especially reassuring for solo female travelers.

Overall, a great experience. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. If we return to Hanoi, we’ll definitely stay here again!

What could be improved: Not really a big issue, but the Google Maps pin and Grab bookings direct you to their sister hotel across the street. If you’re carrying a lot of luggage, it can be a bit confusing at first. Once we figured it out, everything was smooth from there.
