You know what caught me off guard about the Hanoi Tirant Hotel? It’s actually got this understated elegance that you don’t expect when you’re walking down Gia Ngu Street. I mean, the Old Quarter can be pretty chaotic – motorbikes everywhere, street food vendors calling out, that constant hum of activity – but once you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that honestly made me exhale for the first time since landing in Hanoi.

The location is pretty brilliant if you think about it. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, which becomes your daily landmark (trust me, you’ll be using it to navigate), and Gia Ngu Street itself is narrow enough that you feel tucked away from the main tourist chaos, but wide enough that you’re not dodging scooters every time you leave the hotel. The staff – and I’m not just saying this – actually seem to know the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about finding decent pho that wasn’t touristy, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward some random place; he drew me a little map to this spot three blocks over where locals actually eat breakfast. That kind of detail matters when you’re trying to experience a city, not just photograph it.

What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to soundproof the rooms without making them feel sterile. The Old Quarter gets loud – I mean, really loud – especially around 6 AM when the city wakes up, but somehow you sleep through it here. The rooms themselves have this nice balance of modern comfort and Vietnamese touches that don’t feel forced or overly decorative. The bathroom situation is solid too, which honestly can be hit or miss in this part of town. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building (including the lobby area where I ended up working a few mornings), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, which – let’s be real – is a luxury in Southeast Asia. I stayed during shoulder season in April, and even then the place felt busy but never crowded. The elevator is small but moves quickly, and check-in was smooth even though my flight got in at some ungodly hour. If I had to nitpick, the street can get a bit noisy during the day, but that’s just the Old Quarter being the Old Quarter. You’re here for the energy anyway, right?

  Property is very central in the old quarter but yet the street has serenity. Room was fabulous and the staff were even better. Don was a pleasure to speak with and made our visit for personal!

  Every part was exceptional, from the complimentary collection from the airport, check in, rooms, dining, location. The staff knew us by name from the start. The breakfast is fabulous and changes each day. On noticing my cough a special drink was made for me that made a significant difference.The rooftop pool and lounge area is a delight
  The location in the Old Quarter is also exceptional, close to so much.
  We’ve returned three times more to this hotel and it will always be first choice

  The hotels is immaculate. The rooms are lovely and well equipped. The bathroom is spotless. The views are excellent and even though the area around the hotel is very busy, we still found it quiet at night. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and has several vegetarian options for myself and my mother. The views from the rooftop restaurant were magnificent.
  
  What could be improved: The gym is not good at all. Otherwise, we loved everything about this hotel and would stay here again for sure!

  The location was terrific. Everything on your doorstep. Loved staff member Don. He arranged a tour for us and was so helpful. Loved the rooftop bar view. Our room was quirky which we loved. All the doorman were great.
  
  What could be improved: The only concern that I had was the slipperiness of the pool area. I stepped off the rubber matting to get a towel and nearly went over. It is very dangerous. Tiles need to be replaced or no -slip coated.

  Don and chester were very lovely and kind. They would go out of their way to make sure guests have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. The rooms were nice, breakfast was extensive, the restaurant was beautiful

  Great location and staff went beyond their service.. reception staff always remember your name especially Dom .. always greeted you with a smile. Close to restaurant and shipping .. housekeeping does a great job with presentation.
