The Ba Dinh district location is actually brilliant — you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the chaos of the Old Quarter to get some peace. I mean, you can walk to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in about ten minutes, and the Temple of Literature is practically around the corner. What really sold me on the area though was discovering this little local coffee shop two blocks away where absolutely no one speaks English, but they make the best cà phê sữa đá in Hanoi. The tree-lined streets here feel more residential, so you get a glimpse of actual daily life instead of just tourist attractions.

The Room Experience

My room was on the fourth floor — nothing fancy, but everything worked exactly as it should. The air conditioning was quiet (crucial in Vietnamese heat), and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range place. There’s this nice touch where they leave you a thermos of hot water and some local tea, which sounds small but feels thoughtful when you’re jet-lagged. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with decent water pressure that actually stayed consistent throughout my stay.

Daily Rhythms

Breakfast happens in a cozy ground-floor area that doubles as their small restaurant — it’s mostly Vietnamese dishes with a few Western options thrown in. The phở they serve is legitimately good (I’ve had plenty of tourist-trap versions to compare), and the fresh fruit selection changes based on what’s seasonal. The staff here seems to remember your coffee preferences after just a day or two, which creates this nice sense of familiarity. There’s also parking available if you’re brave enough to rent a motorbike, though honestly, walking and using Grab worked perfectly for me.

What makes this place work is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s a well-run neighborhood hotel that happens to be in a great spot. The couples who stay here seem to appreciate the quieter vibe compared to the backpacker madness elsewhere in the city.
