You’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake (I timed it because I’m weird like that), but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant motorbike symphony that keeps you up on some of the busier streets. The two-bedroom setup is honestly perfect if you’re traveling with friends or family – there’s actual space to spread out, which is rare in this part of town. The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s functional enough that you can grab stuff from the morning markets on Hang Be and actually cook something instead of eating out every single meal.

What I really appreciated was how the place captures that Old Quarter vibe without feeling like you’re staying in a museum. The building itself has that narrow, tall Hanoi character – you know, the kind where you wonder how they got the furniture up the stairs – but inside it’s been updated thoughtfully. The wifi actually works (crucial for those video calls back home), and the AC doesn’t sound like a freight train, which honestly puts it ahead of some pricier hotels I’ve stayed at in the area. The owners clearly get what travelers need because there are all these little touches that matter – good water pressure, decent lighting for reading, and enough outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your devices. I stayed there during the shoulder season in April, and while the Old Quarter was busy, it wasn’t the complete madness of peak winter months when every alley is packed with tour groups.

The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the Metropole, but for what it is, it delivers. You’re a five-minute walk from St. Joseph’s Cathedral, you can hit the weekend night market without planning your evening around transportation, and honestly, some of the best street food in the quarter is right around the corner on Hang Buom. The only thing I’d mention is that like most Old Quarter spots, you’ll hear the city waking up early – street vendors setting up, the occasional motorbike – but that’s part of the charm of staying in this neighborhood rather than out in the newer districts. If you want sterile quiet, book something in Ba Dinh. But if you want to actually experience Hanoi’s rhythm while having a comfortable base with space to breathe, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  We thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Kolor Home Old Quarter. It offers great value for money, with comfortable beds ensuring a restful night's sleep. The location is fantastic, situated near popular tourist spots and providing easy access to explore the area. Despite being centrally located, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, allowing for a relaxing escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The owner and staff are easy to communicate with and very helpful, enhancing the overall experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Old Quarter.

  Tastefully furnished with all amenities. The owner arranged for baggage storage and late check in as we were on an excursion.

  Location was perfect. Just out of bustling old quarter but close enough to walk everywhere. Quiet and private. Good facilities. Comfy beds. Appreciated the adapter plug, fridge, washing machine.

  Property was exactly as it is in the pictures was very comfortable the owner was very helpful arranging taxis to airport and back super nice lady kept in contact to make sure everything was ok
  
  What could be improved: Maybe due to the rain or for some reason there was a lot of cockroaches that was the only issue I had I told the owner and she immediately offered to come out and rectify it

  Great location in short walking distance to everything in the Old Quarter, but also isolated from street noise. The bed was very comfortable and the host provided everything I needed. The laundry machine was very useful!
  
  What could be improved: The only issue is outside their control, and temporary: construction noise during the day from the adjacent building.. It didn't bother me since I was out during the day.

  Quite a comfortable home stay for 4 in Hanoi just outside of Old Town. Bit weird at 1st going down an alley to find it, but the staff were great & it was cheap.

  Excellent location in Old Quarter/French quarter side in an alleyway far away from the noise and craziness of the other streets of the Old Quarter.
  Clean and spacious apartment perfectly fitting for a family. Great wifi.
  Excellent communication with agent who was very friendly and helpful. We were allowed to store our luggage before checkin and after check out.
  She also organised a car to pick us up from the airport for a reasonable price.
  
  What could be improved: It smells like naphthaline/moth ball. Very strong smell.
  There is a washing machine but you need to use the spin cycle multiple times to wring the clothes.
  There is not much natural light inside but on the upside you sleep well as it stays dark till you turn on the light.
