It’s tucked right into the chaos of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, but somehow they’ve managed to create this little sanctuary that actually works. I mean, Hang Be Street isn’t exactly quiet – you’ve got the morning motorbike symphony and vendors calling out prices for everything from pho to phone chargers – but once you’re inside, it’s like someone hit the mute button on the city.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without losing your mind. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, and I’m talking about the good entrance where locals do their morning tai chi, not the touristy side. The night market on weekends is right there too, which is convenient until you realize you’ll be tempted to buy way too many silk scarves and those little metal figurines that somehow seem essential at 10 PM. The staff here gets it though – they’re not just friendly in that rehearsed hotel way, they actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about good bun cha (because you have to), the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward some tourist trap, he drew me a little map to this place three blocks away where they don’t even have an English menu.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to detail that you don’t expect from a four-star in this price range. The rooms are genuinely comfortable – and I say that as someone who’s pretty picky about mattresses – with these huge windows that let in tons of light during the day. The bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not doing some weird contortion dance trying to shower, which honestly feels like a luxury in the Old Quarter where some places seem designed for very small people. The rooftop area is where they really shine though. You can see across the maze of red tile roofs and narrow alleys, and in the evening when the street food smoke starts rising and the motorbikes finally calm down a bit, it’s pretty magical. Fair warning though – if you’re here during summer, that rooftop gets hot during the day, but the evening breeze makes it worth the wait. The 9.5 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen; you can feel it in how everything just works smoothly, from the air conditioning that actually keeps up with Hanoi’s humidity to the way they handle the inevitable confusion of trying to find the entrance on a street where building numbers seem more like suggestions than facts.

  Beautifully decorated hotel! Room was small but so well designed that we didn't mind at all. Cozy but luxe. All of the staff were super kind and helpful. They accommodated our request for a room on a higher floor. D at the front desk helped us with restaurant and activity recos and also helped arrange our transport to Cao Bang. Satisfying buffet breakfast with varied cuisines.

  The beauty of the hotel, the cleaniness, the service, best breakfast ever. Loved the big bed and comfy pillows. Location was perfect. Close to everything. Rooftop bar was amazing, happy hour super with great view and good prices.

  Beautiful hotel in central location.
  We were upgraded to a junior suite which was lovely – huge room and lovely bathroom.

  Lighthouse bar – wonderful views of Hanoi at night – drinks were good value.
