Laca Homestay Overview

You know what surprised me most about Laca Homestay? The moment you step off chaotic Đường Thành Street – and I mean, this narrow old quarter road has motorbikes weaving past vendors selling bánh mì at all hours – suddenly you’re in this incredibly peaceful little sanctuary. The contrast is honestly jarring in the best way possible.

The place sits right in the heart of Hoan Kiem, which means you’re literally a five-minute walk from the lake where locals do their morning tai chi, but here’s the thing most tourists don’t realize: being on Đường Thành actually puts you closer to the authentic street food scene than those fancy hotels near the water. I’m talking about the kind of phở joints where you’re sitting on plastic stools next to office workers grabbing lunch, not the tourist versions. The family running Laca clearly gets this – they’ll point you toward the good stuff without making you feel like you need a guided tour for everything.

What really sold me on this place was how they’ve managed to keep that homestay feel while still giving you proper hotel comforts. The rooms are clean (actually clean, not just “good enough for backpackers” clean), and honestly, for a 4-star rating with an 8.2 score, they’re delivering exactly what you’d expect. Nothing fancy, but the AC works properly – crucial in Hanoi’s sticky summers – and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a cloud that deflated overnight. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to upload photos or video call home without wanting to throw your phone out the window. I mean, the building itself has that charming old Hanoi character with narrow staircases and traditional touches, but they haven’t sacrificed functionality for atmosphere. Check-in was smooth, no standing around for twenty minutes while they figure out your reservation, and the staff actually remembers your name after day one – small thing, but it makes a difference when you’re navigating a new city and just want to feel like someone’s got your back.

Reviews of Laca Homestay

  • Vishal from Australia – 1 January 2025 (8/10)

The location. It is so central that everything is within walking distance. Host was very helpful and responsive.

What could be improved: The toilet leaked water. The top loor had too low ceiling. Gets too noisy too early. Questionable cleanliness with what is around.

  • Gupta from India – 16 November 2024 (8/10)

    The location and the stay

What could be improved: Washroom was bit clumsy, mirror n glass were not clean, water was coking

  • Jeni from United Kingdom – 12 October 2024 (9/10)

This place is fantastic! The location is great, the place is very peaceful and comfortable and the shower is super powerful. The owners are really lovely and helpful and very understanding when we were a little late checking out. Will definitely be back!

What could be improved: Everything was perfect!

  • Veronica from Indonesia – 25 September 2024 (9/10)

Very cozy studio super well located handy to go everywhere in Hanoi touristic areas walking distance or by local transport.
The bed was comfortable, and the place has a second upper room, small kitchenet. It is in a local small gang, but it is very safe and neighbors are nice. Great affordable option for a family..

What could be improved: Perhaps the bathroom needs some tube and shower work, water runs everywhere and need to be careful, but nothing dramatic.

  • Šarūnas from Lithuania – 9 September 2024 (8/10)

It's really authentic. First floor ir spacious, very good stay for one night

What could be improved: The second bed is upstairs which is "half-floor". Kids can stand, but grown-ups will crouch. We did find a roach, but i think it's understandable, as the room is on the ground floor.

  • Hadiq from India – 26 June 2024 (9/10)

Best place at this price range

  • Celia from India – 10 May 2024 (4/10)

It was a nice cosy room.

What could be improved: The washroom door was broken. The water leaks on the washroom floor.

  • David from France – 24 April 2024 (9/10)

Very good location ! Thu is very kind and you can ask any questions to her !
