I mean, let’s be real about the location – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, which sounds touristy until you realize that means you can grab bánh mì from the vendors on Đinh Tiên Hoàng street for breakfast and watch the tai chi crowd do their thing before the city wakes up. The owners clearly get this because they’ve designed the space to feel like you’re staying with that well-traveled friend who actually knows where to eat. The rooms have this clean, minimalist vibe that doesn’t try too hard – think wooden floors, good lighting, and beds that are actually comfortable (not always a given in this price range, honestly). What really got me was the attention to small stuff: proper hangers, decent water pressure, and – this matters more than you’d think – windows that open properly so you can hear the street life without feeling like you’re sleeping in a wind tunnel.

The 9.5 rating makes sense once you meet the family running the place. They’re not hovering, but they’re around when you need them, and they actually live in Hanoi so their recommendations aren’t just copied from some guidebook. I stayed there during Tet season when half the city shuts down, and they still managed to point me toward the pho place that stayed open (it’s the one near the corner of Hàng Gai, if you’re curious). The whole setup feels more like borrowing someone’s apartment than staying in a hotel – there’s a shared kitchen area where you can store stuff from the night market, and the common spaces have that lived-in quality where you might actually want to hang out.   The location was awesome, directly off a Main Street but surprisingly quiet. We felt like locals. A 5 min walk to train street. The host was super helpful, there to meet us and let us in and then available if needed.
  The 2 beds are both on mezzanines without walls but feel quite private still and the bathroom was good.
