Maison Nhã 17 Tôn Thất Thiệp Overview
I’ll be honest – I walked past Maison Nhã 17 twice before I actually found it, which should tell you something about how tucked away this little gem is on Tôn Thất Thiệp. And you know what? That’s exactly what makes it special. While everyone’s fighting for rooms near the Old Quarter chaos, you’re on this quiet tree-lined street in Ba Dinh where actual Hanoians live their lives. The building itself has this lovely French colonial thing going on – not overdone, just… right. Clean lines, big windows, and when you step inside there’s this immediate sense of calm that honestly caught me off guard after dealing with Hanoi traffic.
The staff here actually seems to care, which sounds basic but trust me, it’s not always a given. They remember your name after day one, and I mean the housekeeping staff too, not just the front desk people. My room – well, it wasn’t huge but everything worked perfectly, and the bed was one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re drowning in foam. The bathroom had proper water pressure (crucial detail that fellow travelers will appreciate), and there’s this attention to small things like having enough outlets near the bed and blackout curtains that actually block light. The air conditioning runs quietly too, which matters when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.
What really sold me on this place though is the location intelligence – you’re a five-minute walk to some of the best local coffee spots that tourists never find, and the street food situation nearby is incredible. There’s this bún chả place two blocks over that locals queue for, and honestly, it’s better than anything you’ll get in the touristy areas for half the price. The hotel sits right between the business district and residential neighborhoods, so you get this authentic slice of how the city actually functions. Getting around is easy – taxis find you without drama, and if you’re brave enough for a motorbike, you’re perfectly positioned to zip anywhere in the city. I stayed during spring when Hanoi weather gets moody, and even on the rainiest days I felt like I was in the right spot. The 9.7 rating isn’t inflated marketing nonsense – it’s what happens when a place gets the fundamentals right and adds just enough personality to make you want to come back.

The rooms were a good size, very clean, and well equipped. The best part was the reception staff. They were professional, friendly, and very helpful. They helped us with shopping and were great with our early check-in and late check-out requests. Thank you so much!

The host always responded quickly and even allowed us to check out an hour later than planned, which was really kind.

I booked a room without a balcony first but then I changed for the one with a balcony and I definitely recommend the balcony one. It's probably one of a few places in Honoi where you'll have light in the room because there's a view and you don't look at the wall of another house. The room is very new, so everything feels brand fresh, cozy, comfortable and stylish. The location is great.

I was surprised by how quiet and private it was despite being so central. The decor was minimal but elegant, and everything was spotless. I especially appreciated the soft linens and cozy lighting—made it hard to leave the room.

The apartment had a warm, inviting vibe with elegant decor and a super comfy bed. The best part? It’s tucked away in a quiet street, yet just a short stroll to some of Hanoi’s best cafés. Felt like my own little oasis in the city.
