Muong Thanh Grand Hanoi Hotel Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Muong Thanh Grand Hanoi, I wasn’t expecting much from a hotel tucked away in Hoang Mai District. It’s not Old Quarter glamorous, you know? But actually, that turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. The CC2 Bac Linh Dam location puts you in this interesting spot where you’re still very much in Hanoi, but without the constant motorbike symphony that never stops in the touristy areas.

The hotel itself is this impressive glass tower that honestly looks more expensive than what you’ll pay for a room. I mean, four stars that actually feel like four stars – the lobby has this cool marble thing going on, and the elevators are fast (trust me, after staying in some older Vietnamese hotels, you appreciate a good elevator). What really got me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth, they spoke solid English, and when I mentioned I was there for business meetings, they actually gave me a room on a higher floor without me asking. Small touches like that make a difference.

The rooms are spacious by Hanoi standards – I could actually open my suitcase without having to move furniture around. The bed was properly comfortable, not that firm-as-a-rock situation you sometimes get, and the bathroom had decent water pressure. You know what surprised me? How quiet it was at night. Being away from the main tourist drag means you can actually sleep without earplugs. The view from my window showed this mix of new development and traditional Vietnamese neighborhoods that felt more authentic than staring at other hotels.

Here’s the thing about the location – yes, you’re about 15-20 minutes from Hoan Kiem Lake depending on traffic, but you’re also right near some excellent local pho places that tourists never find. There’s this spot about two blocks away where I had the best bun cha of my entire trip (the hotel staff pointed me there, actually). And if you need to get around, Grab works perfectly from here, plus there’s decent parking if you’re brave enough to rent a motorbike. The nearby Linh Dam area has been developing fast, so you’ve got modern conveniences without the tourist markup on everything.

The hotel restaurant is surprisingly good for breakfast – they do both Vietnamese and Western options, and their pho bo is legit. I watched them make it fresh each morning. The coffee was strong enough to wake the dead, which is exactly what you want. There’s also a decent gym and a pool that’s actually clean and maintained, not just there for show.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely. It’s one of those places that gets the balance right – professional service, comfortable rooms, and a location that lets you experience Hanoi like less of a tourist. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you factor in the value. Sure, it’s not boutique charming, but sometimes you just want a place that works well and doesn’t cost a fortune. Plus, the fact that it’s newer means everything actually functions properly, which can be hit or miss in this city.

Reviews of Muong Thanh Grand Hanoi Hotel

  • Wright from United Kingdom – 22 May 2025 (8/10)

    Good hotel. Outstanding staff.

What could be improved: Position on busy intersection.

  • Thuy from United States – 5 October 2024 (8/10)

I recently stayed at this hotel and had an amazing experience. Ms. Thu Trang, in particular, made our stay even more memorable. She was incredibly friendly, easy to talk to, and truly caring about my comfort. The hotel itself is perfectly located, close to everything you might need—shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere and a convenient location!

    What could be improved: Nothing

    good staffs

  • Pakkianathan from Malaysia – 22 August 2024 (5/10)

The room was big and comfortable. Location was good. Well kept and clean.

What could be improved: Breakfast was bad for a foreigner. Not many choices. Even the fruits are of poor quality. There is one restaurant that caters mainly local food.

  • Thuy from United States – 26 July 2024 (8/10)

Variety choices, delicious food, fresh green tea, great services, and much more

  • Tuan from Vietnam – 23 July 2024 (8/10)

    Everything is good

    What could be improved: None

  • Wendy from Australia – 21 March 2024 (5/10)

Breakfast ok for easterners. Pool looked ok but open at strange time.

What could be improved: It wasn’t that clean, tired and aged. Cigarette ash in non smoking areas that gave an overall stale smell. Its position was not so good for a tourist unless on a tour.
The sauna, spa and massage I could only say I was disgusted.

  • Lina from Vietnam – 15 November 2023 (8/10)

    Friendly

What could be improved: Swimming pool so so

  • Cl from Germany – 11 July 2023 (8/10)

The staff was exceptionally well trained, and friendly. They were able to provide me help with arranging the hotel shuttle and taxi service without any problems.

What could be improved: The swimming pool's opening hours, as the time-frames did not co-inside with the times which i was able to enjoy this facility, as well as the spa area were also closed during the day. Which were a little of a disappointment to me.

  • Ashin from Qatar – 23 March 2023 (9/10)

I liked everything about the hotel and think it will be an amazing place for a family stay on holiday considering the room size and facilities.

What could be improved: The location was a little far out from other happening bits of the city and the area around the hotel was also so-so.
