You know what really caught me off guard about the Narcissus Hotel & Apartment? It’s tucked away on this tiny alley – Ngõ Tức Mặc – that you’d absolutely walk past if you weren’t looking for it. I mean, I actually did walk past it twice on my first visit because the entrance is so discreet. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and all the chaos of the Old Quarter, but the moment you step into that narrow lane, everything gets quieter. The building itself has this sort of modern boutique feel that stands out against the traditional shophouses lining the alley, and the lobby – while compact – has this clean, almost minimalist vibe that immediately tells you they’re taking the four-star thing seriously.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to create actual apartment-style spaces without sacrificing hotel services. The rooms (well, mine was more like a studio apartment) had a proper kitchenette with a full-sized fridge, which was a game-changer for someone like me who gets tired of eating out every single meal. The air conditioning worked phenomenally well – and trust me, you’ll need it if you’re visiting during Hanoi’s sweltering summer months. I stayed there in July and honestly never felt sticky or uncomfortable inside. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout, even when I was video calling family back home. One thing though – the hot water takes a minute or two to kick in, so don’t panic if your first shower starts cold. The staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing; check-in was smooth, and when I had questions about getting to Ba Dinh District, the front desk guy drew me a little map showing which bus to catch from nearby Trang Tien Street.

Here’s the thing about the location that really matters – you’re positioned perfectly to explore both tourist Hanoi and local Hanoi. Walk five minutes toward the lake and you’re in full backpacker territory with all the beer halls and tourist shops. But head the other direction toward Cua Nam and you’ll find yourself among locals buying groceries and eating at family-run pho joints that don’t even have English menus. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which was perfect for actually sleeping (unlike some places I’ve stayed near the Old Quarter where motorbikes and karaoke keep you up all night). Parking is basically non-existent if you’re thinking about renting a car, but honestly, you don’t need one here anyway. The whole area is incredibly walkable, and when you do need to go further, Grab works perfectly from this location. For the price point and that 8.6 rating, the Narcissus delivers on being a proper mid-range option that doesn’t feel like you’re compromising on comfort or location.

  Apartment was very clean and fully equiped with mentioned amenities. The owner representative Mr Max was very informative & helpful in arranging, planning & booking various attractions during our stay in Hanoi.

  Lovely place room had everything you could need and was very clean. Staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating. Stayed alone and felt 100% safe.

  It was located on quiet street as there is some roads closed nearby. Not too far from Old quarter can easily walk or use Grab. Rooms were clean, felt luxurious, property has a lift and soft mattress.
  
  What could be improved: As there was some construction going on nearby so the property is only accessible with motorbike or you’ll have to walk a bit to get to the main street where you can jump into the car.

  Great Stay just like the photos, great big spacious room, we loved the location and decided to extend 3 more days, staff were super helpful to extend and the room was cleaned and housekeeping was available daily which was great. Really closet train street and walking distance to the hustle and bustle of old quarter. Great location for walking and taxis to pick up, right across a cheap convenient store and great dentist. Would stay here again! Pretty soundproof other than being close to the train station
  
  What could be improved: In arrival we were supposed to be in Narcissus 1 but we got moved to number 2. There was a terrible smell from the bathroom shower drain. The shower was in an awkward spot with a bathtub in the way and couldn't access the rain shower, sometimes hot water would run out.

  Great location, walking distance to all the main attractions, the rooms are really spacious – we got upgraded to a huge apartment for free! Had all the essentials – microwave, washing machine etc, rooms made up daily. Absolutely spotless and very new – lovely staff too!
  
  What could be improved: The shower only stayed hot for 5-10 mins before having to be switched off to reheat again. The window also faced a wall so there was no natural light but this wasn’t really an issue as we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room but something to be aware of.

  The apartment was well equipped and clean, the staff was great and it was good value for money in general.
  
  What could be improved: Location. The photo of bright sunshine coming through the windows are fake as the windows are looking at walls of the building next door which is pretty much a meter away. So there is literally no view. Also due to construction works the hotel is not accessible by car. The nearest a cab can get to the hotel is about 10 mins walking distance away.
